Maxxis WT tires on Flow EX

Yeah, minion DHR II, 27.5 2.4 WT on arch mk3
I ran that exact combo for a long time and just under 20psi is perfect. There’s a fine line between grip and unnecessary rolling resistance. I might +/- based on trail and conditions but why anyone wants to feel like they are rolling a flat makes no sense to me... yet seems to be a trend right now.

What about in the rear? Maybe I am a hack but positing close to 30 in the rear with an aggressor, which has a similar sidewall.

Maybe I tend to ride on smoother trails where it isn’t an issue? Maybe it’s got something to do with the Arch CB7 which is pretty narrow?
Or I just ride like a newb and go around turns slow? 🤷‍♂️

I’m also on a 120 mm xc 29 if that makes a diff...

I rode mooch today with a brand new DHF 2.5 and 17 felt too hard so I dropped to 13 or so.

If I put 18 psi in the DHR, it feels like a rock. And I use accu gage and Topeak digital just to make sure. I take my psi serious. lol. I don’t notice a difference in rolling resistance.

When I get my new x power pedals I’ll do x watts for 5 minutes and see if I go any further with 20 or 11.

Personally I consider DHF and DHRII as a DH combo, and designed to slam into the gnar at really high speed. I can tell from experience you don’t want to smash a double black tech trail with much less than 30psi... it will not end well. I’m running this setup on trail bike now at ~20psi and they are super harsh... but if I go much lower it feels wrong like the tire isn’t fully formed. I might go back to High Roller II and Agressor combo. Ran this last year and it felt like a happy middle.

I find aggressor not great in the winter, doesn’t seem to do well with muddy soil, although I may be running too high of pressure, lol.

Not sure what’s different, can’t imagine @jShort is hitting corners slow, but if I ran 13, I would be ded.

@jShort is fast af, which is why I find this convo interesting.

I like the agressor a lot in the summer. I was thinking about going back to it for winter because maybe it sheds better? I dunno. I’ll just continue to DHF everything until they die. I have stacks of rubbers I don’t ride and it’s stupid.

I noticed it most when I jump, which pretty much every ride has some kind of jump.

i don’t smack into many rocks tbh. I don’t do too much enduro type riding. If I did, I would probably put more air in. 👍
