Hey going to do a different ride- having eaten my way through COVID- I don’t want to hold anyone up. Soon I will be in better shape! See you on the next one

10 will be far from race paced. I just want to stay moving, it’s not meant to be a fast lap. The mosquitos will motivate you if you stop too often.

Perfect day for a ride, I did just over 16 miles at 6 mile yesterday with a buddy of mine. I've got to cut some seriously high grass today so I'm not going to make this ride. Have a great time guys, ride safe and have fun !!

If anyone records this on trailforks, can you share the route with me??

Quick question. Define no drop ride for me... Someone stops then the people sweeping leave them behind, on a trail they've never been on before. Thanks for the great group ride guys, especially those leading and sweeping. Guess I learned the definition of "no drop" today.

I am sorry that you didn’t have the best experience. To be honest, group rides of this size are a hard thing to gauge. As a ride leader I did wait up to see where everybody was, but the guys that were sweeping said there was an issue and waited up at the next junction. When they went back to see where you were they couldn’t find you. They looked down the different trail options but still couldn’t find you. At that point they assumed that you had an issue and went back to the car. So we continued on with the loop not knowing what really happened. Trust me this is not with what we envisioned for this group ride. And we are sorry that things did not go as planned and truly did not mean for this to be a drop ride.

The people sweeping don't just keep going when there's forks in the trails with someone who's never been there before. I got a clear idea of how you handle group rides advertised as no drop.

At some point Martys will have a official beginner ride so keep watching for a date. I assume the ride you had been on was put together by a few people with good intentions but sometimes it all goes out the window for whatever reason.
No I'm not a beginner. I have no trouble keeping up on intermediate rides. But one advertised as a no drop should be no drop. Those running sweep, and even the "leader" shouldn't just keep going with intersecting trails and hope the person catches up with no knowledge of the trail.

I assumed you were on the beginner ride sorry. I actually just found out you were on the Martys ride. Sorry for the confusion. I guess 2 rides went out today and one was a non Martys. Bottom line we will discuss what happened and make adjustments for next time.

I agree with you. No one should be lost or upset with a group ride. From what the sweeps said you had an issue and said you would be right there. They waited at the next intersection and they looked and yelled for you but couldn’t find you. Again I’m sorry for the confusion! We will adjust things so this doesn’t happen again.

No I sat at the intersection and yelled. What if someone got seriously lost? The confusion is from the post about a no drop ride and those supposedly sweeping yet not waiting

I appreciate that Victor from Marty's reached out to me. All is well that ends well. Mistakes happen, nobody died, or even got hurt. I'm sure it would've been an awesome ride and I'm glad the group had fun. At least I know my garmin can get me home without saying, "make a u- turn" at every trail.

Yeah, thanks @jackx for clueing me in on the OOS ride. I was ready to join the 10am ride also, and that would have been a disaster. 😁 I'm always surprised when sweeping doesn't really mean sweeping. @thegock and @Patrick did a great job today.

I can confirm that a fair amount of waiting was done, along with some phone calls to attempt to get the group back together. I think @ChrisG and I jumping in late screwed up the head count at the beginning. Sorry about that.

Fair amount of waiting? Come on dude. There was no waiting, don't lie. I had a mechanical and once I got started the group wasn't to be found. No one waited at the trail fork, no one attempted to come back. I yelled and yelled at each intersection. I'm over it now but don't sit there and lie, seriously.
