Got the fancy new Mastodon for the fat bike.
I'd like to not knock the crown race off the old fork - cause i may want to roll fat SS rigid to be a bad ass (in my own mind.)

what do i get?

1.5" steerer
2017 (?) Framed carbon alaskan)
semi integrated headset?
Hasn't been cleaned since last year. don't hate - i replaced the chain, a peasant cable, and cleaned/lubed the drive train. 😀

Clean the shit off the bearing. It will be marked with 36x45° or 45x45°. I really doubt you have a Campagnolo spec bearing in a fat bike, and the base plate is the same, anyway.

Grab your calipers and measure the crown race seat, then buy the appropriate race. Alternatively, I may have one depending on what size it is (but you should get a CC anyway, since they have a sealing element on them).

Not semi, it’s an integrated headset. Just make sure you match the bearing inner race angle to the one on the crown race and the outer to the head tube. According to framed yours is ‘supposed’ to have an upper IS42 45x45 and a lower IS52 36x45, the headset behind a FSA Orbit C-40 (first number is the inner race angle, second number the outer race angle). Cane Creek uses mostly 36x45 bearing so you need to be careful with the top bearing but should be the correct one for the lower. Just don’t get a split crown race, easy to remove and install but creaks as well.

One on the right is an exact match to the old crown race.
One on the left is ~1.5mm taller, same profile.

Maybe tonight?

I just replaced the race and lower bearing on my evo. The height difference on mine was the bottom plate, which really doesn’t matter unless you are concerned about 2mm difference in stack. However that seal may cause issues with alignment.
