So hey.
Update

Finished in a tie for first in that Hell of Hunterbury race today. The HOH is my warm-up for Battenkill, which is probably the #1 or #2 priority race for the year. In fact, my plan called for a 6 hour total murder ride today, so this would do the trick.
I don't know how many actually started, but there were 350 registered.
Was kind of raining but not bad. kind of cold but not terrible. So kind of ok. Skinsuit, jacket, shoe covers, spare dry gloves and cap in a ziplock bag.
Debated a bit about breaking out the new EVO in this mess, but then J said I should do it cause Ima gonna break it anyways, so I did. In reality, I needed to test this bike/wheel combo as a Battenkill preview anyways
Saw ChrisG, Capers, Lance, and Kevin at the start. Shook Kevin's hand, but did not give him a hug. We're not there yet.
Like last year, there is a fast pack at the pointy end. Skinny guys of all categories.
In first 20 mins, it thinned to like 30 or so, and then I dropped my water bottle. Burned matches getting back to the pack. Thought, that's it I'm getting dropped at the next hill. And then that was fine, but I kept thinking when I was gonna get dropped like last year?
It was kind of surreal. I felt really good. Like hills were much smaller than before and maybe shorter. I'm pretty sure it was same route though.
That metal grate was interesting. I was bombing down that descent, hit the grate, fishtailed a bit, and then realized I'm supposed to make a 90 degree right on dirt. Yea right. So I went straight into the field, like Armstrong style, but not really. So that was exciting.
So anyways, long story short on Worman road, which is one of last real climbs about 10 miles out, guy named Zack with a Pure Energy kit makes a murder move on this climb, and I latch on to his wheel and pace him to the top. 5 minutes later we look back and we don't see the pack. We trade off pulls to the finish. The pack comes in about 15 minutes later in groups of 2 and 3, I guess disintegrated back there.
I looked him up later, Zack Semian, races Cat 1/2 and Elite cross for Van Dessel and for Kutztown Univ. Nice guy.
Hey I guess I got my first KOM on Worman, and to reference the Liberty Rd climb convo, that dude Jon Sellers was in the pack, and I got him by over 1 minute in a 6 minute climb.

I'm happy the semi-training is paying off
😉. Should be a good season.
Also, our stock is up 70% from the time of IPO, so that's nice too for only 7 weeks.
