James Pearl Thinks Blogging is Dead

Solo Chopping

This past weekend I started cutting my own hair. After however many years paying rock bottom prices for people to run a buzzer with a clip on it, i decided to buy my own and do it myself. I told D that I would do at least 2 of these, and that alone would justify the cost of the buzzer. Actually, 2 haircuts is more than this. I did this over the course of a few days, and I think it's come out well enough. I mean, let's be real here. My standard is fairly low. And I don't have a lot of hair to begin with.

I take this as a solid step towards retirement. This is the kind of shit, along with collecting cans and recycling them, that I should be doing to get ready. Next week maybe I'll buy a rocking chair and look for old shoes. Unfortunately, not many kids live in the neighborhood.

For the record, we can't retire yet. I just want to. I have already laid out the first ski trip we are going to do. It's a 6 week tour of the Rockies.

Also, I attached the Pico sign. It strongly resembles a J-E-T-S color scheme.

@Norm I've been cutting my own hair since lockdown...purchased electric/battery powered buzzer set and proceeded to buzz and use the mirror trick to get the back. Haven't looked back since! I always get an appointment on my schedule, fees are reasonable...usually every 2 weeks. Not sure how much I have saved, say 50 a month since then? someone can do the math...It's just easier now, takes me literally 8 minutes? Couple minutes cleanup...

I started during COVID and never stopped. I think I look less scraggly because instead of every 4-5 weeks of haircuts I do it whenever I have time every 1.5-2 weeks. I've saved roughly $1500 by my calculations. Having light hair probably helps with not being noticable when I mess up either. A 3 way mirror is a godsend along with some good scissors.

Mine used to, but she didn't like the way it came out, so stopped (convenient excuse if ya ask me).
Like to old adage days, screw up dinner the first time she asks and you’ll never have to cook again. She just flipped the deck on you!
My 8yo will be doing mine soon .... With no guard no real way to screw it up besides loosing an eyebrow.
hmmm, not a bad approach. But I’m not sure my kids are ready yet, or they might see it as an opportunity for revenge lol

I can save Norm the travel, I had a guy with meth mouth cut my hair in Bridgewater barber shop not too long ago.
Totally different. More like King of the Hill. Especially the odder barbershop where it's a hangout.

Downtown barbershop is less exciting as it's two old mountain biker brothers.

C19 had me not cutting anything for a long time. This was Aug of '21. Now it's like twice a year visiting the local barbershop. Usually June and December and I go high and tight.

Certainly didn't think hair cut discussions would have gain the most traction....

Sometimes I throw something up knowing that nobody will comment on it, and maybe 1-2 people will like it. I assumed this was going to be 1 of them. I had no idea this is where we would end up.
