It's here, it's here, it's finally here! (new SRAM AXS drivetrain)

What happens when you hit the derailleur on a rock?

Lol:

"Full Mount literally clamps around both sides of the frame itself and eliminates the need for a hanger. This super strong connection eliminates variance and improper adjustment across frame designs. It also eliminates hanger failures and allows the derailleur to rotate backward in case of an impact."

Isn't "failing" the whole point of a hanger? At least a replacement derailleur is only $550 if that rotating backward thing doesn't work when you smash it on a jagged rock.

Also, wouldn't the rear triangle need specific clearance to accomodate this specific derailleur? Did SRAM just come up with the bike industry of a BetaMax revamp?!?!

Also, if the derailleur does not rotate and absorb the impact energy, wouldn't that mean the chainstays/seatstays are going to suffer?

i know im not the target audience for this but man, $2200 MSRP for a groupset.. holy crap

also i love the only comment on bike rumor right now:
"The key word here is PROPRIETARY."

It's not just connected to the frame on one side, it's connected to the thru axle too.

It replaces the Sram UDH which is an attempt to make the bike industry NOT Propritary. It shifts significantly more positive than current AXS, it's sick.
Ah, Ok, that explains how it would work on both sides of the drop out. Still, making the industry not. Proprietary pushing a proprietary standard? Kind of ‘weird’ approach to it…

They said there was no bending after standing on it so... Who knows.
Impact on a rock and standing on it can be two different things, I’m sure there was adequate testing before the release.
It's always fun reading comments from people that can't afford AXS talk about AXS. Launch Day is always the best 🤣
Can’t afford and can justify are two different things.

They're trying to have 1 hanger for every bike on earth. All of the big companies use the UDH already so it's less proprietary than you'd think. The small guys are the ones screwing the standards up.
