Exactly...they didnt do shit...I mean they didnt even delay it 1 full day lol.

I know many of you didnt live thru the 70s, and I only lived thru 4 years of it...But I have read alot about this country in the 70s...We live in a paradise compared to that time....My god if some of you think this is the height of ANYTHING in this county....jesus...you know we had over 2500 bombings in the US in the 70s...2500!!!! Including the pentagon and the capitol....read about the weather underground.... My parents bought a house in 1975, their mortgage rate was an awesome 10.5 %....my dad modified a station wagon with an extra gas tank so he could drive to vermont and back on 1 tank of gas...since he couldnt refuel once he left NJ.....this country was a fucking disaster compared to today.

I keep hearing about this lack of a response...I dont know, to me...once the congress people/senators were out and safe....I dont know, should they have shot all of them? I mean we are no so anti police violence in this country...should that guy with the viking hat on been shot? To me, let them have their 10 minutes of fun, and a prison sentence for a federal crime...in which they will NEVER be able to get out from under.....will let them spend a long time thinking about if it was worth it.

Love the jokes, but this $hit is serious. The country is divided because there is a growing disenfranchised part of the population which is growing in size because of the very forces that made the country great: capitalism, entrepreneurship, etc. In the meantime the american dream turned out to be nothing but a dream for many. Now, some of these people are more and more susceptible to rhetoric that the system is rigged against them. At some point populism becomes too attractive and violence creeps in and/or democracy suffers. History offers plenty of examples.

Biden/Harris getting into power will be a bandaid. Real solutions will take decades to redress inequality and curb the pursuit profits for the benefit of the average man and woman. Whether such policies are put into place will depend, in part, on whether the electorate can, on individual basis, think beyond solely supporting policies that benefit that specific individual or that individual's business and think about the collective, the environment, the poor, etc. I say this as someone who comes from the communist block and gets goose bumps when the word "collective" is mentioned. The way forward requires abandonment of principles of trickle down economics and implementation of more distributive policies. We need to change course from a path that, in the short term, might appeal to those seeking to preserve/grow capital, but in the long run will lead to populism, violence and, very likely, loss of that capital. This is the most unequal developed country in the world and a nuclear superpower. Think about that for a moment. We have been warned.
So are you suggesting a system where everyone is financially and socially equal, no one gets super rich or poor? We all work to the benefit of each other? That the system is setup for fairness first above all else?

LOL...I see you're auditioning for a role as the straight man in a comedy duo.

Is capitalism in the constitution?

I know components of communism is, no taking farms, corporations by force. I do think the government should have components which compete with private industry similar to the post office, but that scope is narrow to necessities and services like electricity, internet, and health. If we have to subsidize an industry we may as well be competitive.

A group of random clowns should never have been able to breach a security perimeter around the Capitol building. The congress people/senators were being evacuated as the building was being overrun. That's insanely unacceptable. I have zero idea about the training for Capitol police or any of the other agencies involved, as well as their ROEs regarding lethal force, but to treat this as effectively harmless is off base. We had elected officials barricaded in the chambers of Congress using furniture against the threat of a makeshift battering ram. I don't see any "10 minutes of fun" in this.

Once they were in and a level of control established by law enforcement, they should have been arrested. Like they would have in seemingly other situation. Instead they were allowed to leave of their own volition and, at least in one highly visible case, politely escorted the way you would walk your grandmother down a set of stairs. I'll be curious to hear an explanation for why everyone inside wasn't arrested.

I think the issue is people are fans of politicians. I've never seen an obama, bush or clinton flag. I have a satirical bill clinton shirt and some campaign shirts, but I don't wear that shit on the regular.

Back to the fans, if the jets suck people still love them that's their team and blah blah blah. People paying that loyalty to anything is stupid but paying it to politicians beyond that. They should work for you once it's the other way we get what we have yesterday.
Why you gotta bring the Jets into this mess.

A group of clowns, armed clowns at that, shouldn't be able to take over a part of Portland Oregon either. I'd like to hear an explanation as to why that was allowed to persist, with no arrests either. Where was the outrage there? I'm also willing to bet both disparate groups would give a very similar explanation for their actions. Oh, I believe someone was killed in the Capital building. I'd say that's worse than an arrest.

Isn’t it the same group

Isn’t it the same group
Two different groups, extremes of the left and right. Both going about things absolutely the wrong way, however in todays world one gets more of a "pass" than the other it seems. And I feel bad for the police in both cases, under a microscope, damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Does everything need to be spelled out for you in the Constitution? It spells out the framework for our freedoms. That's the thing with freedom, you have the freedom to win or lose. Just because you think you lost, doesn't mean its unfair, or some factor was stacked against you. I guess it also provides you with the freedom to make excuses.

Trump flamed the riots in Portland so he could prove all the democratic run cities were burning hell holes to scare his base.

Trump flamed yesterday's riots because he's a sore f'n loser.

Riiiight, its all Trumps fault. Both riots aren't extreme representations of how the people that live in this country actually feel. I suppose everything goes back to puppies and rainbows now that we have new leadership?

My folks bought a house in the early 80’s and yes their interest rate was pretty high as well, however it only took one person working to able to do that. They didn’t have to pay extra for some one to came and get their garbage or pay extra for their sewer. Corporations weren’t lobbying for their best interests. It would snow and be cold enough during early winter for your local pond to freeze so you could ice skate on it. Parents had time to spend with their kids and actually raise them rather then a stranger in some daycare.... Not sure it was a disaster back then.

It won't, but at least POTUS won't try to incite violence by spewing lies everytime he opens his mouth.
Like the Democrats embraced and encouraged "peaceful protesting"? (aka burning down a Denny's)

I'm not gonna stand up and defend Trump per se, but he wasn't wrong about things like aggressive media bias. I remember taking Journalism years ago and reading about grizzled old veterans who would rather go to jail than give up a source. Or would stand up to whatever mafia or politico trying to bury a story. Now it's follow the narrative even if it's not exactly true.
