Is it a fad, a group or a club? It's OOS, the thread to rule them all!

I'd be worried if rides are limited to once a month, groups will be bigger cause everyone will make it a point to show, and harder to manage.

I'm a bit lost. Where we at?
Group size
Strava posting
Separating ride date threads from talk threads

I can help as long as real time feedback is not required...I work long hours and sometimes can not spare any time on the interwebz. Sometimes I can but it’s a hit and a miss, really.

Group size ( I thought I forgot something). As a recent addition to OOS I don’t feel comfortable saying small or big, I would have to leave that to the original members, whoever they are.

I'd hate to see OOS lose itself . I've never not felt "part" of the group any time I've been out with these guys, like have at other organized rides. There isnt a "racer" group, and " everyone " else. That's what makes it special. The bigger it gets, the more likely it is for that to happen.

Going back to my idea of doing an official ride once a month and then spontaneous rides in between to keep it casual. Organizing rides every week is work. Looking for possible compromises

The leaders that have volunteered... Have they been reliable? If so, I still like weekly rides

This is somewhat true - and i was thinking about what a group ride means in this context. The audience is beginner, or slow because out-of-shape. there will be some trips to places with intermediate technical riding, or harder, so that has to be taken into account. Also the amount of climbing. The faster people should be prepared to wait, or do a repeat and encourage everyone. And ample recovery time needs to be given to the last person - somewhere around 15 people or so, the group will probably splinter into speeds. there will always be a faster person willing to sweep - i hope.

I have to learn to type faster. I'm having a hard time following

That's a good point. I don't think we would lose that but I can see how it could happen.

@fidodie That's kind of why I like more frequent rides. If they're less frequent, there will be more hype, more will show, groups will be bigger, and it's frustrating having such diverse levels amongst a big group.

More rides in different parts of the state to keep #'s manageable and still rep?
I like that on strava you can post about scheduled ride there. (i.e) cancellations, conditions, update
