I am looking for either just a frame, or a beater for parts, something headed for the recycling center or anything free or really cheap or free. or free.
I have a poor broke ass neighbor kid whose bike broke at the dropout. everything else is good, would just need a donor frame.
would need to be 1-1/8 steerer, size medium.

Thank you in advance.

the broken bike in question is a medium Giant Boulder with v brakes and a 1-1/8suspension sorta fork

I have this:

I sold the fork and want to keep the saddle, bars, stem, & seat post, but you can have everything else (frame, wheels, brakes, and a sh-t load of tires). The only trick here is that I tried to pull off the cranks and they decided that they want to stay. my attempts with a regular crank puller stripped off the crank arm threads and my attempts with a 3 jaw puller have been largely unsuccessful as well to the point where i actually broke the spider.

so if you want to take on a sword in the stone type project and want to pick up, she's all yours. i could bring her to ringwood this sunday too. i get there early, between 7 and 7:30 AM. otherwise, i'm in allendale.

appreciate the offer, and I know beggars can't be choosers but I think this might be a little more trouble than it's work. thank you though

I have a steel ca. 1993 purple thing with a rigid fork. It's medium and nothing wrong that I can tell. Just no use for it and it's in clinton.

@bucknejo

OT, but you can buy a [pair] of tools called drill chuck wedges from Jacob Chucks (or Grainger, or Amazon, etc, etc...) The angled sides face each other, and any large gap can be taken up with a cone wrench/suitable shim stock. Grab a 1+pound hammer, and give each side a good whack (or just the side facing the crank, if you want to be careful not to damage the frame). A 'pickle fork' might fit, but you'll definitely mar the frame removing the crank.

I believe #3 fits over a ST spindle.

JohneeOxford, I have a Giant Yukon frame, medium, close what this kid has 'cept it's for disks. Might be able to work something out with mechanical calipers and possibly wheels to help out your little grom buddy. Let me know.

hey @wshruba - something like this?

Yeah, that's them. #3 is a bit big, clearance-wise, but I believe #2 is just a tiny bit too small. If there is something in the way, you can use a drift punch to hit them. Watch a couple of videos on youtube on removing drill chucks with wedges. It translates really well to bicycles.

That price sucks, though. If you have a Grainger or McMaster-Carr near you, they're way cheaper ($10 is a common price from a supplier). Probably other tool supply companies, too.

i'll get it out. the tools you are using are imperial, you need metric!

that or a ball joint fork on an air hammer...
