IGVENTURE

I remember that episode. In fact I remember (being a bass player myself) thinking man that is a cute girl bass player...we would have made a great couple until of course we both would have turned into drugged out drunks.
I think in real life she was a member of the Runaways (with Joan Jett)

Where did u get your information from...u better check yo head.

Joan Jett copied Suzi's look, and musical style. Granted Jett did it way better but Quatro was her influence. I saw Joan Jett several years ago at a crummy local music fest. That broad still rocked. Its hard to have an edge and come off as punk when your old. Jett still has an edge or she did 4 yrs ago.

Oh yeah Suzi Quatro, damn. Yes that was off the top of my head. I do remember now. And cuter than JJ anyway

The Weekend Edition

Rest week this week so not much to report. I've been feeling good lately but am sticking to the plan and pacing myself. I did smack my shoulder pretty good today at Allaire on a tree. I did 3 advil's when I got home and am on my 2nd beer, the pain is starting to go away. Allaire is so tame but most of my injurys come from this place. Hey, most car accidents occur within a mile of your house. Allaire ain't a mile from my house but I do go there around 2x/month. I think I'll grab another beer.

I forgot to mention that I met PTB66 there to buy a pair of mtb gloves from him, hey Joe.

I'm gonna keep featuring this band because I like them. Don't write these guys off, they grow on you. Cloud Nothings.

I wish RW was in my travels to get there more often. Thats a wknd destination, or a day off from work trip. Its only a 45 minute ride but its headed due out of my way. I love that place, always worth the ride.

For me Allaire is only fun going fast, pushing it through the single track. I slid in a turn last night and was in quasi control getting one foot down and grabbing some brake. I felt like I had the bike under control enough but couldn't actually come to a complete stop when this tree got in my way. I didn't feel like I was going that fast but when my shoulder hit a tree to come to a complete stop I had to take a minute to regroup. You know those times after you go down on a bike or hit something, your in kinda shock for a few seconds. Everything feels a little numb and your not sure if your really hurt, you start sweating a little more and you can feel the blood pumping throughout your body.

I took a drink of water and pedalled on, this is what I always do. The right shoulder was sore but I was able to get out of the saddle and stand on the hills as I used my hands on the bars for cranking leverage. The end of the ride sucked getting out of my jersey. It took me like 15 minutes to get dressed in my car after the ride, but I was able to switch the radion stations pretty easily with my right arm on the way home so thats a plus.

Its actually a good thing that we didn't get much snow, I'd be bummed sitting inside with a shoulder too sore to xc ski in. This is a perfect way to end a rest week, I'll hop on the rollers today and do a light road ride tommorow.

I bought this album last night, I call it indie rock with balls. I think I'm gonna stay useless this wknd.

ha, dont feel bad man. I did it too. Last week I turned around to talk to mark real quick and a tree jumped out at me and caught me in the shoulder. I stayed upright but it definitely stung. I dont know why God chose to make trees so freakin hard. Anyway, mine bruised up after a couple days and now a week later I still have this gem (scrapes on the top are pretty much all healed and gone).....

Yeah I've had those scrapes on the outside of the shoulder. I hit square up by the collarbone. This one won't leave a bruise but I have that deep muscle tissue/tendon ache.

I'm back and the shoulder is feeling better. It still hurts, I can't clean and jerk 300 lbs. but i can ride my mtb so all is good.

My new stem came in earlier this week, I upgraded to the opi stem from cannondale. You have the option of going longer and lower, I just went 10 mm longer and kept the same 5 degree drop as my older stem. Its just a cleaner neater look, not much weight savings. + I'm hoping when I bang my knee into it that it won't hurt as much as the old one did, this one is more rounded...it just looks nicer, and thats important.

My rest week ended so I have some riding to report. I met the crew at Mooch on Wednesday. You can read about it here. This was my first ride with my rebuilt shock. Wow what a difference. My old shock was like riding a pogo stick, the air piston was over pressurized and had too much recoil. My lock out stoped working awhile ago, bascially my shock sucked. It feels so good know, why did I wait so long. Props to Craig Smith at Mendon Cycles, he was quick to repair and get it back to me.

This winter doesn't suck for riding. I've been doing some work at Howell Park GC, its nice to be near the shore. After work I can put in a solid 2hrs before it gets dark. To keep it fresh I have to mix up the road rides, doing the same loop is extremely draining. Monmouth County is flatter but has more wind to deal with because its more open. Variety is good.

J & Shmev

This week was my babies birthday, J is 14. Yeah it goes by fast, but its also fun when the kids get older. They get my jokes, family guy humor is not lost in this house...my wife wishs she had a girl sometimes. Mary had school the night of J's birthday so I was on Dad Birthday duty. I told him we could go out to eat where ever he wanted, he chose the Galloping Hill In...good choice. Good burgers , dogs, and fries + they serve beer. I told J he'd have to wait until he's 15 before he can do keg stands.

Yeah the captain has been solid , the shorter h2h races on rocks will be his bag of weed.

I'm just really enjoying cruising my cdale over some cool buds and tasty waves.

The popularity of the Popcorn song is a testament to the fact the everyone was doing drugs in 72.

He got his haircut, still curley but not as much volume. The boy is growing up.

If anyone is selling a Honda Civic or any other car that is reliable let me know, his budget is around $3,000. He gets his license in April.

Ok much to report so let me get right down to beesnuts.

Saturday

Did a memorial ride with former teamates for Manny Lopez. Manny died earlier this week of cancer, Manny was the life blood of the Cranford Bike team. He was the ride captain who had a great personality to go along with his gifted cycling skills. Its an understatement to say he will be missed but we ride on because that's what Manny would have wanted.

Life goes on. Later that day we celebrated Jamie's 14th birthday with all the family. Its a little stressful having 15 people over and making sure the food, drinks and general merriment is not in short supply. Add my father in law to the equation and I have to be really careful I don't tell someone to go fuck themselves. As I get older I have learned its best to not say much when all the family is over other then can I take your coat?, more wine?, can I get you more food?...

One thing that doesn't suck about having all the family over is the fact that my father in law does bring over some epic wine. People throw the work epic around way to much...this shit is epic defined. If your real nice to me I'll let you sniff the cork.

Sunday

I met some teammates up at Mooch BSA to work on the new short track course that will be used in mid March. We scouted out some prime real estate for the course and had at it with the tools. Afterwards me Pearl and Woody rode the course...sweet! Like the old course there is good flow with a few rocks thrown in. The short track series begins in less then 2 weeks, for $15 these are great training races to work your high end. Get in now, this will fill up quick.

Monday

Yes I'm off work today, so I drove up to meet Falco, Rob and another Chris to do some road riding up to Harriman. It was a little chilly at first as we made our way north into a head wind. Once into New York we were able to open up the pace a little as the traffic calmed down. With the wind and traffic its tough to find a rhythm but we settled in once we got up near 17. Chris is a big guy with a big engine and really nice. I've met roadies like this before, there great to draft behind. I'd call him a flat land specialist, although he climbed really well too. I'm more of a mountain specialist. Not that I can create a great draft but rather I'm someone to chase uphill. I want to go back with these guys when we have more time to hit Bear Mt and Perkins.

Wow, the weather is total crap today. I've been stuffy all week with a cold, it has just been lingering. This rain is a good excuse for me to take another day off the bike. I didn't even ride yesterday when it was 60 degrees out.

I experienced a moment of clarity this week, despite my head cold. It came about after the big boss at work gave a motivational speech to us in which he basically told everyone to get there shit together. Get the most out of what you have and do your best, even though you may have less to work with. Make lists, inspect what you expect...

This speech ispired me to take the rest of the afternoon off and do something I've been putting off for quite awhile. If you guessed refinancing my house you guessed right.

This has been on my to do list for quite some time but I've always managed to find and excuse to keep me from doing it. After listening to the rising cost for our health care in that meeting plus the fact that gas is approaching $4.00/gal. my motivation to get this refi taken care of went right to the top of the pile.

After some phone calls I got a rate of 3.379%, which is a lot better then the 6% I was paying. My application is done and I just have to make some copy's of some documents to send in. If I get turned down I could probably secure a loan of under 3.5% from Jake.

The speech also motivated me to get my bike shit nutted. I took off my chain and cassette and cleaned it in the parts washer at work...on my lunch break of course. I've always been kinda a man of action, I just need the speech every now and again.

If there's a problem, yo I'll solve it. Check out my hook while my DJ revolves it.

Welcome to the refi club! I'm on attempt #2 after a disasterous first try (none of it being my fault). Who are you going through? I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. I am at 6.6% and hopefully getting 4.00. Just waiting on my appraisal to come back atm
When was the memorial ride? I got the news way late to attend services or get info on the ride 🙁

I'm using Hudson City, currently I have my mortgage with them. The woman I dealt with walked me through most of the paperwork, if you want her number let me know.

We rolled out of the shop last Saturday for Manny's ride.

If this one falls through I'll hit you up for her info. I dont really expect it to, but at this point, nothing would surprise me.

I wish I could've been there w/ you guys.
I'm going to head down to the shop on Sunday morning and chat with Tom. If you're not doing anything, stop in! I'm usually there around opening time w/ his coffee lol.

Damn Clapper, I better get myself together to hang with you next Saturday.

Tom's not open on Sunday, you mean Saturday. Saturday morn is prime riding time, I usually stop in at the shop during the week when its dead.
