Icebox Eleven

That was really funny when Dustin passed me after the last stop. He's like "I'm all doped up" and he's pedaling at like 100rpm in a upright hybrid-bike-like position. It reminded me of road runner cartoon for some reason. I was surprised too because I felt stronger than him prior to the last rest stop. I'm sure he ate the whole box of GU.

So true!! I dropped him as soon as we left on the dirt climb, busted the right and could barely see him then hit the left on the main drag and blitzed the next two miles. I then let up and 10 secs later i hear that damn sqeakey bike and he trolls by on my right turning the lil ring at like 120rpm lookin like Mary Poppins!! Musta took a couple mins for the high to hit😀 I just checked up and let him go:drooling: I was done at the 1st food, so thanx to all u guys for distacting me for the next 50 miles

My Battenkill report.
I posted this in the team forum

I was the only mtbnj'er in my group of 50 or so. Pack stayed together for the first couple miles till the first big hill and the race splintered. A group of 5 or so went off the front on that hill and I got into a chase group of 6 and the hunt was on.

After each descent I found myself 50 yds ahead of my group with noone trying bridge, when they caught up only 1 or 2 guys would pull so I burned a lot of matches trying to keep this group moving. About 40 miles in my legs started to rebel.

Now I'm in survival mode, I hide where I can in the group but take more than my fair share of pulls with 2 of the stronger guys.

The hills were taken their toll and the cramps were coming in waves. We all stayed together until that final monster climb. This was where those guys who were hiding all race started to pull away along with the strong guy who pulled with me. Legs went from cramping into limp noodles, I had nothing left at the top of the climb.

I had one guy in sight after the descent and put it in the big ring and tt'ed it the rest of the way. He had 100yds on me about 5km out but I was reeling him in. I stood up and mashed for the final 2 kms but we crossed the line about 2 bike lengths apart.

Finished 11th, gave it all I have and learned alot. Legs hate me now

When you were here the other night i was gonna remind you to do no work up there but i knew it wouldn.t help. Your inherent nature is not easily molded into a tactical format. Unless you're surrounded by teamates, just sit til you smell the blood, then destroy them and go it alone. Hope ya had fun😀

At one point I said f it, i'm gonna bridge or blow. All or none. But only 1 other guy was on the same page and I just dont have the legs for a sustained 2 man break
