Heath Insurance help

This kind of stuff really makes me wish this country would get on board with universal healthcare. Would be great not having health insurance options as a major part of the decision process on finding a new job.
Universal healthcare doesn't work for everyone. Ask my co-workers in Canada who end up seeing doctors in the US cause they can wait 6-12 months for a preventative diagnostic. One even caught their lung cancer before it spread. Only suggestion I can give is to work for a pharma company.

Or an hospital? I’m just coming back from a country with universal healthcare and had to deal with that very issue for 2 weeks...

All insurnace is disgusting. My plan is $23k a year, I pay half that pre-tax now.

In all honesty, I'd be happy (ier) with this as I'm paying $20K annually for my family plan. Keep in mind this is my cost (60%) towards the total cost.

Mine works as well and after seeing our cost out of pocket on a surgery boywonder had vs. If not having it wood be devastating for our family. Dont take for granted because when the time arises that shit plan is better then no plan.

I'm unfortunately aware, I had better insurance working at Best buy who would have known

Wife works for Atlantic health their insurance is shit
We have insurance through my wife at one of the hospital systems down here. I'm convinced anyone who works in healthcare has shit insurance. We had to get tubes for our toddler and had to fight a $4k bill for months because the procedure wasn't done by the hospital system that insures us. And the hospital system that insures us doesn't have a pediatric otolaryngologist, or a pediatric operating room. We live next door to two of the country's best pediatric healthcare systems (have to wait months for any appointments to see them) and they want us to go to an adult doctor and an operating room that probably gets nervous when there's a pediatric patient on the schedule.

I have Cigna thru work, and my sister works for Cigna. I pay less and have better coverage than her. That's some fucked up shit right there.

I used to work for one of the top 10 Pharma companies and always complained about the rise in my contribution % each year for a family of 5. Then my middle son had some major surgery 2 years ago (he's fine now) and I stopped complaining once I saw the "billed amount" vs, "covered amount". So now I realize the coverage was much better than I thought especially for the big stuff.

What I cant believe is the shit like some random doctor hospital doctor walking in the room for 3 minutes then I see the bill is like $10,000 and the insurance pays out like $6000. Feels like a complete scam. In the end we are grateful the surgeons had steady hands and didnt sneeze and he's fine now.

We just had a non-emergency, but required surgery. in around 7am, out around 11am....no complications.
This is just the hospital bill....and it was an outpatient center.

Total Amount Billed $89,746.28
Plan Discount $83,757.78
Plan Paid $5,389.65
You May Owe $598.85

there has to be a tax, or negotiating position for this.
Perhaps when they do pro bono work, it is a deduction?
Or medicare/Medicaid demand the lowest available rate for participation - this lets the margins seem larger?

Couldn't find anything on-line after a quick search...

Yeah this is what I mean. There has to be some formula or whatever to figure out the final bill.

What kind of F@cked up math is that.

Sorry ranting.
