Were you guys hanging out in front of the video store smoking butts before the ride?

I figured that Hartshorne would be the go to place since all of the rain, but it was pretty muddy today first thing this morning. It started to dry out after about an hour, but it was still muddy for Hartshone.

We received a good amount of snow/rain starting before noon Saturday. The trails will need a day or two to firm up. It was pretty muddy for the TM session at Allaire this morning too.

Yeah Saturday was rough. It was raining when I woke up and it was still pouring when I went to bed at around midnight. I generally give Hartshorne a couple of more days then I would give Allaire after such a deluge. This weekend got so bad that I started shopping for fenders for my road bike 🙁

More rain lastnight.... all night and right through until late morning here in Monmouth County. I hope the woods get a chance to dry out before the weekend warriors swarm back on Saturday and Sunday.

Judging by the weather forecast, I suspect the woods will be mostly frozen by then anyway. The overnight lows for tomorrow and Friday are brutal.

Thanks,

There was one other rider I passed twice, once while I was walking my bike up an impossible (IMO) climb. I'm sure he was wondering whether I had much business being there, but hey, you gotta start somewhere, right?

I rode there yesterday morning for the first time at 7:30am. I thought I would be the only one there, it was packed! I walked up almost every hill discouraged until I realized my front rotor was not spinning correctly through the caliper. Not knowing much about hydraulic brakes I walked the bike out and felt pretty stupid. Took me 5 minutes to adjust it when I got home once I reviewed SRAM's documentation. That's right, gotta start somewhere! Can't wait to get back there

conditions 12/15-16?

I walked through Hartshorne on Laurel Ridge section this afternoon and it looked like the trails drained well from the rain this past weekend. Only a few spots were a little muddy. When would be best to test them out for a ride? I dont want to cause any damage to the trails. Thanks

Give it a shot tommorrow. There may be isolated wet areas but just ride though the middle of these areas so as not to widen the trails. Let us know how the conditions are.

yes if you find that the trails are muddy ride thru the middle.
or dismount and walk if it is to bad we do not want to widen the trails...

I suppose I will make a new thread but given you guys are regulars there...I have never been to this place but have to go down to the Red Bank area to look at a project. Anybody available to join me for a ride possibly on Tuesday afternoon to show me around?

I'll be out of the area until January after tomorrow. So I think I'll hit Hartshorne on #51 tomorrow before noon... I'll let you guys know how it's looking.

hey we were posting at the same time. If by Tuesday you mean Wednesday...and so long as you don't mind my retro-grouchy-29er-ss-iness... I'll give you a tour
