Hartshorne Conditions?

While it has nothing to do with Hartshorne, I'm aiming for CR at 7:30 or so for a reasonable spin. That's if you want to travel slightly less far this morning. Of course we'll also be out Saturday morning.

It is temting as I'm screaming past meadowlands but I'm harthorne comitted at this point with my 26" iboc. Re: sat, I want to ride but have to leave by 9:30 so feel weird doing the ride and not tm. I could help a short while esp if some people start early.

Don't feel weird, but reading message board posts while driving is bad (so I'm told)! Ultimately just coming out to meet people and be part of the scene is a positive to the community. I also have to leave early Saturday so no big deal.

I'm subbed to this tread so I get email notifications 🙂. But yes I'm driving and typing 😛.

It went more like this

al, u in this morning?
Er, I got 2 deflated tubeless on my 575
ok I'm gonna go get my ass kicked by norm hope I don't die

I didn't die, but my body couldn't take much more after 1.5hrs of body rattling on a 10+yr old ridgid small wheeled bike. Norm was doing a lot of this:

The only action shot I could get of him was on his way out from the porta-potty:

Norm's bike:

I need to go back there to redeem myself. Chimney Rock not Harthorne.

Pretty much. I also remember this part:

Sounds:"Oh well, I can ride Chimney Rock instead"
Me: "That's great, you have the perfect bike for CR"
Sounds:"Actually I've got my 20 year old fully rigid mongoose with me"
Me: "I see...."

Hey Norm, you stole him but now you have to feed him.

Oh, and Sounds, it seems to me there are a couple of hills in hartshorne that could use a little redemption!

Lastly, it turns out not only are my yeti's tyres flat, so is the rear shock 🙄

Picture taken before I managed to let the last little bit of air out of the tyres...

Did you purposely choose the older model? I like the straight lines of the older model but I heard the newer design rides a bit "better". I was looking into the 575 (was kind of torn between the newer and older model) before deciding it was probably a better idea to spend 3/4 less money on a used stumpjumper as my 1st bike.

And yes, Hartshorne is not exactly a walk in the park, but at least I feel comfortable riding it on my 20yr old mongoose .. well, at least i think .. i haven't tried it yet 😀

Yes I chose the earlier model... because the price was right 😀 I've never ridden that bicycle as it happens. Tomorrow I'll be trading it for something old and steel with a guy from Philadelphia. I don't know why I thought I could change!

Was today your first ride on the IBOC?

lol .. you should give it another chance!

there was a bridgestone for sale for $40 near lehigh valley, but i'm pretty sure it was just an mb-6

i've been riding the IBOC everywhere .. smooth that is .. 6MR, sometimes LM, all the Long Island trails .. i actually enjoy riding it more than the stumpjumper on the smooth stuff .. feels like the bike is a part of the ground

gonna go redeem the hills at harthrone .. fri 12/4, 7am wheels down! buttermilk lot

I want to get some miles in tomorrow... Though 0630 feels mighty early, particularly as I just opened my 2nd brooklyn stout. I'll do my best Jimmy!
