Going Long and Hard.

Hahaha- and their 25lbs dumbbell weighs the same as Jims 25lb hood rat dumbbell- within margin of error. Still, not worth it imo.

The only time i would upgrade is if it wasnt Olympic grip.

Add these to your trap bar for added challenge and some muscle irradiation training. Pinch grip... much different game when you cant close your hands.

I really wanted to do my own at home gym, but it would take many years to recoup the price of going to planet fitness

that and the footprint is rather large with a rack/barbell setup

I've got a very small home gym. It started because I wanted to have something I could do at home when the weather sucks and there is no motivation to drive to the climbing gym. You are totally right on cost vs Planet Fitness, but for me, there is zero chance I'm driving to a gym to workout. I also like being able to go down in the basement with my laptop and pretend to be at work while I'm getting it done.

I don't think there's as much of a difference as you think. The LA Fitness behind my house is $360 a year. I've definitely spent under that every year so far buying gear. Except for these dumbells, but I'll sell my ghetto ones for like $100 and come back into the green. The 2nd most expensive purchase was a Safety Squat bar that was $300.
