Going Long and Hard.

Congrats again Jim. Way to kick some ass and represent out there! I was checking in periodically and cheering you on from my nice warm comfy couch 😀

Great race Jim! Amazing how you were able to maintain a 5th spot for so long eating and drinking very little/spaced out. Very inspiring indeed.

And a great recap too. Now get some well deserved rest 🙂

Awesome write up and even more awesome finish. My helmets off to you Jim. Unbelievable effort!! Congrats!

So much more inspiring with the story behind it. Totally unreal. Great job Jim, I cannot thank you enough for sharing this with us.

Well, in good and bad news. Mark was disqualified for not meeting gear requirements at the finish line. So I officially came in 4th. I'm not sure what they got him for but there were a couple of people that were DQ'd including the winner of the Women's race...

Was great to follow and such a crazy accomplishment to do well in the race. Congrats and on to bigger things?!! Too bad pat is being a dick and scoring this truly epic ride on par with 4,45 min rides in jersey 🙂

True. That contest is stacked against me. Even my 2-hour commute to work scores low. In 5 days, it's 10 hours vs 3.75 if someone does the minimum, same points. Everyone gets a trophy mentality.

That contest is stacked against me.

I must admit that this contest is more complicated than it needs to be and seems to deviate from the simple concept of recording time spent on a bike ,however regardless of whether you win or lose this contest you are still going to keep riding your bike just the same. In the process a lot of folks who don't really ride that much over the winter are finding motivation to get out and ride and just your presence in the contest is probably pushing people to ride.

This contest is meant to motivate peeps to ride their bike, which you already do a lot. There is no real value($) in winning this thing, its more for fun.

So, do the type of winter riding you enjoy and let the scoreboard take care of itself. Shit I'm late for work. 😀

Jim..you're one of many hardcore rider I admired and respect.
congrats on finished 4th.
by the by...did you by chance taking pic naked riding fat bike in the snow? That would be another epic picture of yours.

Awesome job jimmy and excellent recap. God my feet hurt just reading that. I had a moment on my 3.5hour ride in the slush yesterday when I looked down at my garmin and imagined doing this for another 16 hours...fuck me!

So looking at the profile, it didnt look like there were any significant climbs...which I felt would make it harder...Just trying to stay motivated to keep pushing and keep your HR up/staying warm.

That contest is stacked against me.

Its totally stacked against you...nobody can beat you and liong straight up and your complete and total domination obviously makes people not want to play...therefore we have to change what was a base race into a game. #hollowvictories

Yeah, I totally get that. If I was a beginner and saw some of these rides I'd probably sell my bike 😀

It's probably better if I just don't get involved with it and let the guys that want to play motivate each other. I'd rather have more people riding, and whatever gets that to happen is best.

Damn Jim!! Congrats on the finish.

19 plus hours in those conditions is such a brutal accomplishment.

While reading the part you wrote about pushing your bike along, I cringed. What a mental mind f@ck that must have been. So far to go, and such hard going.

Well done bro.
