Going Long and Hard.

it seems that tubeless at the most biggum size is the most difficult, is it really worth the effort. You said q-tubes no good either so you got me wondering if the surly lites are the only answer for set it and forget it...

Jim were you at Slayer show last night? :getsome::getsome:

There was a guy that looked just like you a couple of rows ahead of us.

Our budget is super tight this year so that will go a long way...My son was accepted into the People to People study abroad program and most of our funds will be going to that, putting me in a position to skip racing for 2015 and train specifically for Iditabike 2016.

That is awesome. My son, Ryan, was also accepted and is going to Europe this summer. Yours doing the same trip?

My daughter went to Australia w/ P2P a few years ago and it was awesome for her. Start the fundraising tricks ASAP.

Maybe time to reconsider the split-tube method
Been running them through all kinds of water all summer and fall without losing any air whatsoever, and I run 'em soft

I've been running this setup for almost 5 years without issue. I ripped the sidewall of my tire so no method of tubeless or tubed would've helped.

I think he's going to Canada, thankfully. Otherwise I don't think we could afford it. We have him mowing lawns and doing random projects for relatives. He's raised about $1,000 so far but we have until July. They're going to Space Camp which he's super excited about.

No. Tubes are not the answer. I flatted nearly every ride before I switched. Tubes are terrible. Don't run 1200 gram tires like I am and you'll be fine.

My rear tire lost it's seal and I couldn't get it to re-seat to save my life

You didn't mention ripping your tire in your original post
Which is why I thought you couldn't get the tire to RE-SEAT
how silly of me
Anyway
Haven't had a tire slip off the bead using the split tube method

And you ain't been runnin fat for no 5 years either

Go back and check your posts
I've only been fat for three, and you guys were still laughing at 'em

I built my Pugsley in 2011, so I jumped the gun by a month. I apologize for any personal distress I may have caused you by laughing at your bike a year before you bought it. I should know better.

C'mon Pat, I thought you were the math guy. The above only applies if said bike was built on Jan 1, 2011, and if today was Jan 1, 2015. Otherwise it would be 3 years and some fraction. 😀
