Going Long and Hard.

That turtle looks like Eric Cartman.

I definitely need to put in a really long day in the saddle once school is over, this got me thinking of the Cape May ride we did several years ago.

Bravo on the long ride and big big ups on helping the turtle across. Weird how defenseless they seem on tarmac, when they're like threshers in the water. My wife and I are constantly moving the really tiny ones across the D&R when we're running. They look like little model versions of their grown-up selves. I suppose I should feel bad for all the goslings they're gonna eat later. Maybe they can be taught to hunt deer? Glad your phone survived.

Wow.

150 miles and 9,000+ ft and 16.4 mph avg.

That is a bunch of BIG scary numbers, new milestones to motivate the MTBNJ masses ( such as myself ).

Most excellent. 😀

Well, Longest Day is on a weekend with nothing else going on, and, I just emailed the guy putting it on to see if I could still register. He said yes. I'd now have to convince my wife to drop me off at High Point and then pick me up in Cape May about 12 hours later. She seemed ok with picking me up, not with dropping me off. It's about 9 hours by car. 1.5 each way to High Point, 3 each way to Cape May.

Hmmm. I just printed and filled out the form...

You may be on to something Jimmy!! I can actually catch the train in New Brunswick. It's only a couple miles from my house.

Memorial Day.

Decided at the last second to head over to Clayton. Joe and I bailed on doing a second stupid ride. Had to throw on the new E13 chainguide right quick in the am. Very nice piece. Should fix any issues I was having with the MRP.

Ran into the normal local yokels. Hitched into a ride with Mr. Gozik, Sean, Capers, and Grandpa. Chris was riding at "social holiday pace" so it was perfect. My legs were a bit tender to say the least, but I need to spin the day after or I just can't recover. There seemed to be much delicious food, I had some watermelon and called it a day, we were planning on hitting Somerville later so I'd be eating poop. It was nice to see everyone under non-racing conditions😀

Sorta got caught in a bit of traffic on the way home. I ran out of fluids so I stopped at one of those rest areas and got a HUGE soda. By the time I got home, neither my wife or I were too excited about roasting our booties off at Somerville, we hit the pool instead. Me and the boys tried to drown each other and got yelled at by the lifeguards too many times to count, typical Vreeland boy style!! Good weekend.

Back to the grind this morning. I plan on skipping the tuesday ride and just commute all week to recover for States next weekend. And I sent in the thing for Longest Day, I'm in. As is Joe, so I'll at least have someone to suffer with:popcorn:

Dude thats a killer ride. When you posted this on FB, for some reason I thought you were going to do it on monday, not sunday. I was thinking about starting in rockaway and meeting up with you guys. I wish I did, I would have kept you from getting lost. Though that was probably worth it just to have hit 150mi When chris26er and I did the high point and back ride, we went up 23 to get there, then through stokes back to 206 which was so nice. Hoping to do that ride again soon. Great job man!

Uggg. So tired today. I usually get hit 2 days after a big ride. This is no exception. I averaged just over 13mph for the 2 hours I was on my bike today. OuchieMcOucherSon:drooling:

Despite being tired, I've been trying to work out some arrangements for the Longest Day ride. We're looking into doing a 3-day mini-base-block of about 450 miles. Day#1 would be a century+ up to Port Jervis, staying overnight. Day#2 would be the longest day, 210 miles, again staying overnight. And finally a return trip on Day#3 back into Piscataway, about 130ish miles. I'd have over 2 weeks to recover before the next race so the timing would be good. Just have to figure out clothing and such. For 3 days I'd have to bring some clothes, an extra kit, phone charger, etc. I did get eyelets on the Seven for a reason you know😀

Need to go over the plan with the bosses:hmmm:

-Jim.

So you know I actually have access to not only one of those, but also the Sram version as well right? 😀

Both of those guys will be working at the shop those days, already went up that road!!

-Jim.

Ups the clothes to the hotel manager with another label to return ship it back to yourself from the hotel. They will do that for you. Or fedex.
Don't forget to add a pound to the return box for all the ass sweat.

On one of these silly long training days, swing out my way. We can roll to Normies and down to the shop son. Been to long!
