Go visit Asheville and help their economy! 😊

A few friends who live there are relaying the devastation to their homes, community and trails. There was a multi million dollar trail project just completed in August. Everything is destroyed… old and new. The trails won’t get much help for a long time. Folks need to rebuild their homes and stores. So sad. 🙁

Check out Seth’s Video.
Well, I'd say we're 100% back in business starting tomorrow. The only trails in Pisgah Ranger District that are not fun to ride right now are not destination trails anyway.

Pisgah near Brevard is all good.
Bent Creek near Asheville seems like it's all good. We road the $$$$$ new trail last weekend and it may have ridden better than pre-storm.
Dupont opens tomorrow. Tons of trails closed but only one of them is a notable trail and not one that most people hit on a trip.
Both local bike parks have been open.
All restaurants, shops etc are open in the Brevard area. Most stuff up north near Asheville is open but they are dealing with water issues.

Anyone vacationing down here this weekend is probably getting one of the best vacation weekends. Leaves are perfect clors, trails in great conditions, not too busy.

Surrounding areas are pretty fucked. Grandfather District w/ Old Fort trails like Kitsuma seem like they'll be wrecked for awhile.

Sunday we went to West Asheville to a brunch place before our ride that typically has an hour wait and we got in no problem and it never filled up.

Great news. Thanks for the update.

We usually stop in Asheville and Boone on our way to and from Louisiana for the holidays. I need to stop at the Hub & Pisgah and Brevard this time around.

If you're passing through I recommend one of the regular destination trails in Pisgah and then food truck and coffee/beer at The Hub after and continue on your way.

Sort of out of the way if you're passing through the area but you'll skip out on part of the 26 highway traffic.

I'll try that either on the way down or the way home. I wanna hit the bike park in Boone again, too. nice trails.

I have some vacation time to burn after Thanksgiving, so I am considering a trip down there. If so, I definitely want to spend a day or two at Kanuga.

Why not Rock Creek also as it's in the same area? They have a shuttle. Kanuga is very e-bike friendly as it's pedal up.

I'll plan to ride a bunch of different areas. Mostly looking for e-bike friendly areas, but I'll bring at least one of my regular bikes as well.

Do the dirty hippies in town have a spot to drum circle yet? If so, I'd highly suggest avoiding it 🤣

About a decade ago we went to Chattanooga and then Asheville. Walking around Asheville I was so grossed out by what appeared to be trustafarians asking for money. Then we walked by the drum circle.

I was so grossed out by the whole experience we got in the car and drove 2 hours away to find a hotel as I didn't want to be anywhere near the city. It was bad enough, then the drum circle just did me in.

And then you moved there?

We had a hotel right across from the circle, it was probably the worst night I’ve ever had during a bike trip.
