That's a LOT of talent. Wonder what's gonna happen to Pate? After a billion years at Slipstream, he finally leaves only to have the team fold. Yoinks! Looks like the international team model isn't doing it for the sponsors.

It is a lot of talent. Of course, the General Hospital-like drama will center around Cav until he announces:

Here's a pertinent quote we all care about:

One source told VeloNews that Cavendish’s preferred lead-out men — Mark Renshaw and Bernhard Eisel — will join him at a new team for 2012.

I'm guessing GreenEDGE over Sky, simply because I don't know how 1 team can support a GC contender and Cav in the same lineup.

I'm gonna go with you the GreenEdge thing, for the GC reason AND that Australians seem to love sprinters. They've got both Meyers (Cam and Travis) and Jack Bobridge. Lot's of track and TT experience there and a speedy first couple of cars for Cav's new train...

This excellent bit of conspiracy-theory conjecture is from The Inner Ring

This was a team that started without a sponsor. Instead it had a pile of cash and over the years this was topped up by extra revenues. Yes, the team did find sponsorship from the likes of HTC and Columbia but I wonder just how significant these deals were, they say Columbia in particular was particularly modest. Could it be that the team struggled from the beginning to land a sponsor and relied on the T-Mobile settlement to stay on the road?

How can he not win Roubaix with Hincampie as support?

He could get "favorited" out, a la Cancellara this year. He wants it so badly, so publicly that it may be impossible.

Gilbert Next?

This could be a replication of his Garmin experience: too many chiefs. Unless Ballan leaves BMC, they've got three guys that've done well there before and all seem to have scores to settle re:pR. Still, with Taylor Phinney coming into his own at Eneco and Cadel's Tour, they're looking pretty fierce. If they added Gilbert they'd be terrifying. Or they'd unspool.

Well, "they" can only shut down so many people, so it may be a recipe for a good race.

Agreed. If Fabian's on form, he's the marked man again. And since Ballan's probably out of BMC (three teams in three years), Thor's not gonna have to worry about who's up the road. But if it turns into a staring contest, Flecha's gonna win it.

Found this interesting note in the comments to the story "Mark Cavendish - Mark Renshaw = Tyler Farrar" Not sure it is entirely true, but probably does help Farrar a bit as Sky does not appear to have great lead out men and GreenEdge is still a great unknown.
