Garmin watch?

@extremedave I just charged them up and threw them in the truck. Let me know if you are interested, otherwise I'll offer them up to anyone else who wants them.

Forerunner 405 Left, Forerunner 10 Right.

P.S. Not nearly as ridiculous as ^. 😉

I have a Forerunner 25 (which I see is no longer on the Garmin site but replaced with the Garmin 35) - I got it for running and I wear it as my everyday watch. It has a few good features (steps/pace/smartphone notifications) at a reasonable price. It works with my HR strap I use with my 800 but I rarely use it now as I know how I feel when I run. It syncs via bluetooth and I've also used it for riding when I forgot my 800. My only complaint is the charger - it's a very unique mount.

@M3Tim I appreciate you digging the thing out but I think I’m gonna save some pennies and try for one of the newer units. I walk a lot at work and want to goof with it there more like a Fitbit. Thanks doe!

I've used a bunch of fitness watches including the Fenix 5s and Fitbit Ionic. The heart rate and GPS on the Ionic is pretty good. I did a mtb ride and tracked with both my Garmin 520 and the Fitbit. The heart rate and gps were about identical.
The Fitbit has it's own gps and wrist heart rate. If only you could pair ANT+ devices like power, cadence, etc....
Still for an everyday tracker I like it better than the Garmin.

As I have seen too many Dcrainmaker speed reviews I'm no clearer. What I know Fenix 7 is most expensive instict 2 is budget level. Though very little difference from the fenix6 to the 7 and at a instinct2 cost. Couple reasons why I am curious/important: the smart link to ebike and tracking personal health.

What do you have, what's it good at and not.

I'd highly recommend going to try them on if you have a chance. Both of those are freaking beefy watches. The HR pokes it up quite a bit and the actual case isn't slim either. I had a Fenix 5 and eventually moved to a Forerunner 945 and it felt like I lost a lb off my wrist. I wouldn't bother with a 900 series again when I replace this since I no longer open water swim though.

To each their own of course, if you're used to a big watch or have a large wrist it may not be a factor at all.
This is the best part, I never have been a watch person ever so I wouldn't know, lol. I do have large wrist so this is good to know. I do want to follow my health stats though, read "heart." I've been experiencing some irregularities since covid and have some family history.

I have been VERY happy with my Fitbit Versa 3. I had an older model that got handed down to me before this one so I could monitor my off bike health just like you said. Sleep HR and counting steps and walks were my main priorities. I I also keep track of my resting HR as an indicator of how my training is going. Lower is better or course. This one I have now is also waterproof the previous one I had was not.

If you recognize that wrist HR is not as accurate as a chest strap maybe +\- 10% it’s not really too big a deal. The more advanced Fitbit can do O2 levels and such but I don’t need that.

For me the device works flawless 99.99% of the time. I sync it to the Fitbit app which then syncs to strava (only for GPS activities. ). But I also use just the watch for off bike workouts at home and it does everything I need. But it can record bike riders and many other exercise types too I just prefer the Garmin for bike rides.

You can prob find a decent used one to try it out. If you go FitBit or find a decent one DM me I can help you assess it.

Not digging deep into fitbit too deep but I doubt it connects to my ant+lev ebike, which is one of the 2 main critrriors for me.

I have a fenix 6 pro sapphire and I love it. I have had it for over a year now prior to this one i had the instinct . It was a great watch but very basic in comparison to the fenix line.
