FS bike best suited for NJ riding

Hi all, great community here. Some of the members were helping me zero in on my first FS bike offline, but I figured I open it up to a larger group for help. Thanks in advance.
I think I have narrowed it down to a Canyon neuron CF7 or YT izzo core2, because they are both available in the next 2 weeks. If anyone has experience with these bikes or sizing I would appreciate it. I have been riding Lewis Morris, high bridge, and 6 mile recently but want something that will work well all around NJ.
I'm just shy of 5'10" pants inseam 31", arms average length. I liked the trek fuel ex in size m/l. They can not be had until the spring, but for sizing purposes I was comfortable on that bike. The people at YT suggest a size L, while Canyon says Med.

Speaking as someone who has not ridden either of these bikes....

GX is going to be much better drivetrain on the Canyon than NX. Also has better brakes and 2 lbs lighter. You'll probably want more tire than the Forekaster when you go beyond 6MR and LewMo. Rockshox Select and Fox Performance are a wash for me.

I'd lean Canyon personally knowing very little about the frames themselves.

Havent ridden either bike, but seems similar to my tallboy, which is what I would settle for if I had to had only 1 FS bike for new jersey (I have 3). Does everything ok...good enough uphill and downhill, great in the rocks, BB is high enough for it not to be too annoying in rock gardens. Its good, its like having a universal golf club....great at nothing, but pretty good at alot of things.

Thanks, I have not ridden either also. I believe the YT frame is a bit longer and more slack. When I looked at weight I thought maybe YT was a lb lighter, but I figured it was pretty similar.

If I may suggest, see if you can Demo a bike or two. I personally don't think buying a bike in November makes a ton of sense.

Tenafly is selling off their demo fleet right now...a Ripley would be a great alternative to these bikes and they have a couple of those on hand and they're having a sale on demo bikes Black Friday I think

Def trying more bikes is a good idea. My son is really excited about riding at the moment so I am in a bit of a rush to get something to chase him around. The other thing is I have set a budget for myself ~mid 3ks. I have sat on the fuel ex and liked that fit. I tried to compare the measurements and i think the YT is closer to that than the canyon but its hard to tell.

This is from today. You can take your pick and have a bike today.

The "best bike" is a somewhat difficult question to answer. For some, a hardtail will do everything they need a bike to do. For others, a long travel enduro bike. Others somewhere in between. Or me: all three, depending on my mood.

I’ve got my eye on the Izzo but really anything modern in a mid travel (120-140 rear) 29er is going to be plenty of bike around here. Fit and feel are super critical to me so mail order is tough. Walking into Halters and leaving with say, a new Hightower would be pretty darn fun. You also can’t overstate having local warranty support vs mail order. Lots of things to consider but I think you’re looking at the correct category of bike for all around fun.

You may have not considered it but the Orbea Occam is a great FS bike for all of NJ. 140mm of travel, front and rear, I can't speak highly enough of this bike. It climbs without hesitation, descends aggressively, an all around trail bike that I feel was designed for east coast terrain.

I've bought plenty of bikes sight unseen and never not liked any of them. Personally, I like the color options of the Canyon.
