For All You Hardtail Guys Out There...

damn I got it bass ackwards I have been riding my full suspension bike on the road and my stiff bike with skinny tires on the mountain. I will give the opposite a try and report back

Somebody nailed it a few threads back. The best rider is not the one with the quickest time, gnarliest air, etc....it is the one having the most fun. RIDE WHAT IS FUN TO YOU.

It is a shame when you see very good technical riders upset, cursing etc about their ride, time or equipment. Much too serious. IMO, not what it suppose to be about.

If its too loud you're too old.........if i ever thought i needed FS i'd just quit.

That's what I said about the two nine!

But then the operative word here is need.

But then I also use the shift button... 😀 I feel like I need to.

Heck yesterday I was riding around inside my garage and I realized that I was not on the weapon of choice, so I looked around and saw a spin bike... The thing doesn't even have tires... lol... My kid walked in and wanted to do the same so I projected my opinions on him.. He said why can't I just ride what I want to? I told him it wasn't the latest trend! He told me to pound salt and I smiled and said "That's my boy."

I have that bike. 😀

But if I was buying a new bike tomorrow, I would strongly consider a 26 inch FS bike. A nice 5 inch travel, 25lb bike that could be raced or ridden in crazy tech places like sourlands, or even ridden at some trails at diablo.

A 5" FS bike that weigh 25 lbs? Wow. My Paradox (HT 29er) is 28.5 lbs, and I thought I had a light bike!

The number 1 bike I have my eye on right now is a 5in fs. For me, this whole thing came dangerously close to being un-fun for me once I got wrapped up in who has what and who is doing what. I'm gonna ride what I want and have fun doing it.

i couldn't agree with this more! the soul-surfer approach. there's plenty of complicated things in life, riding a bike does not have to be one of them.

Agreed. As long as it is rigid, has 29" wheels and only has one gear. If you have that bike though, you are ok with the arguement for this thread.

cool! i qualify!
