Food delivery services

Restaurant veteran, to help my parents pay for college, and then to keep money in my pocket after graduating in '90 when engineering jobs were a bit hard to find. Bussed tables, cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner. Some nights after working at 2 different places, would swing by a place where friends were working and chip in during the late night post bar rush.

No, you don't want to piss off the cook in the kitchen! If it says no substitutions, don't ask.
I loaded trucks at UPS during the week, was the lowly dish washer on the weekend. My truck-loading chops made me a dishwashing ninja, so I split my time on the weekend between a couple of place for lunch/dinner/special events.

In addition to no substitutions, don't send anything back that isn't "cooked right" (unless its egregious, and even then.....). You'll get your meal back along with something that's "off-menu".

I thoroughly believe restaurant staff, and not take-out places, are the only ones that truly have a tippable job. The amount of bullshit that they have to smile and take from people while serving them is insane. The 3 places in the world where you really get to witness a persons true level of crazy is the bathroom, airplane, and restaurant.

8 of us from H.S. rented a 2br apt in Sea Isle City and all of us worked at various locations as summer jobs. Level of crazy? So glad there was no social media and smartphones back then. 2 of the 3 place where I put in my time don't exist anymore. The one that does was bought years later by a dude who I worked with and he's still running it. The others have been torn down for more shore houses. My youngest brother started at 1 of the locations and is a lifer. He's part owner of our local home town tavern and always asking me if I want some time behind the grill on the weekends. I came close when they were opening weekends for breakfast.

We have a gas station attendant who wants to be tipped. Stands there when done. I'm not sure he even talks. I avoid the place

When I was working the pumps everyone got their windshield washed (I'd ask if the car looked clean) asked to check oil(if the idiot light came on, it was probably too late) and I'd even glance at tires for low air.
