I dont know if Ria Mar would be a "destination" spot for seafood. Sure it has seafood on the menu but its just another Portuguese/Spanish joint. I personally think the place is nothing to rave about and think Portuguese Manor in Perth Amboy is tons gooder.

Located where the old "Docs" used to be on Woodport Rd. Food is described as rustic Italian cuisine. Setting is intimate despite the size, with a lounge feel.

I was there yesterday for food sampling and was very, very impressed by what was coming out of the kitchen. Fresh, creative twists on Italian-Mediterranean dishes. Not typical fried food with melted cheese on top, plus they have a wood burning oven, which adds amazing flavors to the chops, etc.

Officially opens tomorrow - drink lots of wine!

ok - about 1x per year we go somewhere that requires dressing. this year it was the new Ryland Inn, whitehouse station.

they were on-time with the reservation
service was fantastic
wine was overpriced (i expect 100% markup - this was 150+)
beer and drinks were priced as expected

apps - fantastic!! really, go and sit in the bar/piano room and just have them - $10-$15 each - you'll need a couple for a meal but wow!
entrees - again, amazing - the menu is limited to what the chef found that day and feels like cooking - 1 chix dish, couple of steak dishes, a pork dish, 1 exotic meat dish (i had venison) and a veggie dish. $30-$38 range.

the feeling of the place was nice - not stuffy. looks like the outside area will be a don't-miss spot. bar does raw egg drinks - v. cool.

oh, desserts...not impressed after a fantastic meal. maybe just the night.

There is a great little American Cuisine place on Steiger Street (next to Shop Rite Liquors) called Prickly Pear. Haven't had a less than stellar meal yet. BYOB

Fujiyama in Mansfield has the best sushi around. Sushi specials on Fri/Sat/Sundays. Reservations are recommended.

This is a perfect stop after a Mooche/Stephens ride for a tasty beer and grub. Actually sitting here now having an "Orgasmic IPA" that is well....

Black Forest Inn on Rt 206 in Stanhope has had excellent real German food for over 20+ years. This is a must for those craving Weiner Schnitzel.
