Fatboy.

FTR, the Fatboy out of the box at $2,000 is lighter than a $4,000 Fatback or 9:ZERO:7...True story.

Crazy right? I'm a big fan of supporting the little guys even if it means paying a little more, but they have to be in the ballpark. I couldn't pass on the fatboy's bang for the buck.

And add to it that it actually comes stock with fatass tires. Most of them come with narrower tires stock so if you want the 4.5+ tires you've got to tack on another $300+.

And many of the others come with 80mm or narrower rims. If I decided to build up a set of wheels with clownshoes, that's almost another $1k!!!! $1300 just for wheels and tires??? That's getting close to the complete cost of a fatboy!

So I said screw it. Fatboy it is. It's perfect first step for the fat-curious.

It looks like my fatboy purchase was a good choice . My only upgrade was a riser handlebar and I'm going to install xt brakes

I just sold all my 170mm stuff and my Fatback and bought a Fatboy!!

Stripped it and swapped the stock parts from my Camber over to it. Not sure what the logic of stocking it with such a short stem? Dropped the weight under 26lbs without doing the tubeless conversion yet. LOVE the 5 inch tires, I was able to ride in areas of the beach I wasn't able to before.

I'm experimenting with a better single-speed set-up for this fatbike. I've broken 2 Surly Singleators...

I found a cool set-up to convert the PF30 into an EBB. I'll need to modify it to work in a 100mm BB shell. It will also allow me to swap the crankset, which is terrible stock. 😀

I'm actually trying to figure out something for myself, maybe you can help? My fatbike frame seems to have a 90mm BB shell by measurements (2011 Anthem x 29er 1). I ordered a PF BB92 which is supposed to work in it amd converts me to a 24mm spindle. How would I go about finding a crank that will be long enough to fit? 😕

If it's a normal MTB any crank will work. 92mm is standard. The shell is 73mm and the cups are around 10mm a side...

Any recommendations on tire pressure for Sourlands? Ran 7.5psi at Chimney Rock, but not sure how low I can go. Set up ghetto tubeless for now.

....I always start a little high and drop the pressure as the ride goes...I find that with fat fatbikes, the pressure also sets the speed, set it higher and you can hit goat heads faster without rim song...you start to get to much hand shake, drop the front pressure a little...low rear wheel grip, lower the rear pressure a little.

Tape and foam just like the rest. The rims are wide though so you have to make 2 passes with the tape.
