I got something called HSU research brand.
My amp/receiver does not have a sub out. I’ve read two ways to connect
(1) only use the amp to connect two speakers and double the wires from one set of speaker connections from the amp to sub
(2) make one connection from the amp to the sub’s high input and then use the speaker out connections on the sub

Is there a right/preferred way?

Both speakers wired in and out of the sub-

the crossovers will eliminate the bass frequencies from the mains, relieving them from attempting to produce sounds they can't -
this eliminates speaker distortion.
You boost the bass in the sub, and leaves more amp headroom for the mains.

Do you have pre-out, main-in jacks on your system?
Might be able to take advantage there -
