Deer Park Conditions

That's what I used last year though it was like wrestling a greased hog to get it back there.

Can I use my front mounted ride on from the lot to the woods?

Hu uh huh

The entrance trail when parking at the 7-12 PV is getting pretty overgrown. Might be difficult to ride through soon.
Still workable with a heavy duty sting trimmer? Ive been meaning to get there. I have a trimmer rigged with crazy heavy string

Awesome job. Thanks. I'll soon hit DP for a clearing mission.
Fyi. If you go and get to the one where the red dot is. Note that it starts on the other side of the gravel road up from the old parking lot and the top of it ends on the trail. When @mattybfat and i saw this our take was that we would only clear what was on the trail itself and not the part on the gravel road. The park can clear this if they so choose. Just trying to save additional work (for now). I recall it being a big one that fell off the hill next to the road. @mattybfat advise if you disagree

thanks for the assistance!!. In the short term im going to try to keep after brushy areas but can help pick off trees over time.

Yeah for now we need the part on the trail which is the top of a very large tree. Days like these past few make me wish I had day off for 😔
And of course thank you past present and future Help.

Today, I got started in Deer Park, and cleared about half of the known targets. (The red circled ones on the attached map). I also did a few tune-ups here and there. The un-circled ones remain for another day. I can tell another maintainer made a stab at some clearings. At least one target was already cleared. Another was made marginally passable but I finished up the bigger stuff. The big monster that Fat Trout mentioned above was started with a Sawzall….The rusty stuck Sawzall blade left behind. They cleared a few 6” inch limbs away. I cleared the rest of it (see before/after pics). It made me feel good that other folks have made an effort.

I totally appreciate Fat Trout’s effort to do all the brushbacking from the new lot. Had that not been done, I’d have climbed in my car and gone home. Of the few trails I was on, there was some significant overgrowth, but I didn’t leave any flesh/blood behind today.

Thanks again for all you do...

I did a 3.5 hour thrust in Deer Park today. Fun to run into @Fat Trout over on the Deer Path trail, savagely brushing things back! Nice Job and sorry I scared you! LOL. I was chasing after 2 targets there, but he beat me to ‘em.

Tough to make a solid report on what I did today, because it was a mix of some bonus blowdowns, targets that had been cleared already, a few tune-ups, and targets cleared that I was tracking. And I have a fuzzy memory of where I was, and where things were.

I guess the best thing I can do is try to highlight the trails I was on and you can assume everything I rode today was cleared. See attached.

Of note: I revisited the massive blowdown that had fallen on the doubletrack section (Before/After pics of that in my prior post). This time, I cleared it’s upper part that had reached over into the adjacent single track trail. Also got the one on the bridge, and a fat one nearby.

There’s only two known targets left: On Rogue, and on orange, not far from waterloo Road.

There’s still pockets of overgrowth but the park is really rather rideable these days.
