Chimney Rock Conditions

Big bushy type obstruction leaning into most of the trail, can get around w/o dismounting but might get nicked w/ a branch to a cold ear. I didn't stop this morning (cuz didn't have to, and I hate stopping for anything) to take a pic or pin it, but it's about here.

Nice conditions this morning, tomorrow morning should be similar while temps below freezing, after that the forecast blows.

Anyone ride today? I don’t want to damage trails. I figured old school side will be ok but I’m not sure. I’m sure camp Cromwell area will be a mess.

It was way better than expected. I tried to avoid all the obvious/well-known spots that stay wetter longer. In doing so only encountered a handful of messy spots.

Some non-water related "trouble" out there:
  • @Kirt someone built up somewhat of a damn/bridge at the white water crossing, lots of long branches perpendicular to the water, bolstered w/ rocks, etc...water is now deeper than usual and if stuff gets caught up in the branches will back up more
  • On blue Interior 2 someone once again dismantled the big rock roll; I put it back together as best I could, it's a bit more sketchy than it used to be, but I rode it w/o hurting myself so it checks out (for me only, wouldn't encourage anyone else to deal w/ my handy work!)
  • Tree down on orange near the top of the guardrail climb, it's rollable so you don't have to dismount

  • Tree still down on yellow train simulator that requires a dismount

80% nice and frozen.. the new dirt isn’t great. Shed trail was ok, Stop sign was walked.
White was no bueno. Everything else was great. (I rode everything except black ball field and lower blue, just figured those wouldn’t be a mess.

This hanging tree is on the path across from the Cromwell basketball court..

Has anyone been on the new stuff in the early am / frozen hours vs. mid day? I’m assuming it would be passable early in the morning with the recent temps.

I haven’t been this week but in previous week’s deep freezes if u hit it early enuff it’s great. But it can soften faster than u expect if sun is hitting it uninterrupted (ie no clouds).
