Cars, it's electric! Do Do Do

@Mahnken oh is that what happened. Hope she came out unscathed.

I thought of that f’elon while driving yesterday. Nope I’m not getting rich off that
After yesterday's performance on the White House lawn, selling your Tesla should be easier. Just need to find a die hard MAGA supporter. Better get it done before the gold trump edition Tesla is released.

LOL...no no...Elon's not getting anything for that 270million he gave trump

I mean even passing over the absurdity of Musk having Trump do a sales pitch for him on OUR white house lawn....Imagine for a second if it was a group of Toyotas....Mind you Toyota build 2.5 times as many cars in the USA as Tesla does....employs FAR more American workers....People would shit bricks. He is now declaring any vandalism of a Tesla dealership an act of domestic terrorism....So that means our FBI will be tasked with what amounts to the protection of a particular business owners personal property.

Is anybody fucking home here?

So you're ignoring that he actually said:

Asked in front of the White House whether such protesters should be labelled "domestic terrorists", the president said "I will do that", a position later confirmed by a White House spokesperson.

"You do it to Tesla and you do it to any company, we're going to catch you and you're going to go through hell," Trump said.

Many other news sources also quoted the full quote (some less than reliable overly biased ones clearly didn't).

wow thats even worse....lol....CNN was being kind...now you are a terrorist if you merely exercise your first amendment right to protest whatever the fuck you want.

I have been protesting Tesla garbage for eions now (ask @THATmanMANNY ) .....I must be on a list somewhere lol.

Ummm, your screenshot from your post, snipped below:

It does not mention you are a terrorist if you protest (unless your protest includes violence which is inferred). Are you saying you're on a list cuz you've vandalized or otherwise used violent actions against a Tesla dealership in the past? Or was your protest non violent? Cuz thems 2 different things.

I don't think violence/vandalism against someone's property should be considered domestic terrorism as blanket thought cuz BOY would that open up a HUGE pandora's box in general! So I agree w/ you there that that's a dangerous statement.

I'm just trying to understand whether you are looking at the facts rationally, w/o emotion and bias?

Cuz first you were enraged that Elon was getting favorable treatment. Which you should be if he was, no argument, I would be furious about that as well.

Then when I pointed out that he wasn't (at least w/ respect to this single item you brought up), Trump said any such actions against ANY company, you then were MORE enraged because that was infringing on free speech. Which, if they were infringing on free speech, I'd again be enraged right there next to you.

I'm admittedly no expert, BUT I do not believe violence/causing damage to OPP is covered by the first amendment (kinda like yelling fire in a crowded theater isn't, if that thing I learned all them years back in grade school is still correct).

Am I missing something here? I'll reiterate, the only team I'm on here is TEAM USA, RED WHITE AND BLUE. I'm not left or right, liberal or conservative, red or blue. I try to look at this stuff objectively, factually (in as much as reliable facts are available), w/o emotion or bias (which can admittedly be hard w/topics like this).

And when the resident trolls call me maga or suck daddy trumps balls, or whatever hashtag they threw out, and call me a troll, I laugh. I know they think name-calling will make me cry, but that just makes me laugh more. Maybe it would hurt if it were true, no idea.

so to be clear....im NOT enraged...I mean if I got enraged by everything our president does....man, I wouldn't be able to get out of bed...im actually shaking my head and laughing at the absurdity of all of it.....the general observation of our president on the white house lawn....filming a commercial....selling cars for a CEO that paid him $270m....Then on the same day, Elon gave Trump another 100 million. https://www.axios.com/2025/03/12/musk-trump-100-million-donation-political-operation
I mean really, we should be outraged....this is such BLATENT corruption. It could absolutely be pointed out that Tesla stock went up 25points since Trumps commercial....um, do we the American people who paid for that add benefit in some way?

And yes, you are not allowed to vandalize "stuff"...perform acts of violence..... there are laws against such things....but there is NO law against protesting...there is no such thing as an "illegal protest"....you can break a law while protesting...but the act of protesting cannot be illegal as spelled out in the first amendment..."congress shall pass no law......etc"

Do I take all his quotes seriously? no...I mean really, I wish he would go ahead and enforce....Arrest anyone who protests or boycotts tesla....see how that goes over lol.

haha yeah, "enraged" might have been a BIT hyperbolic on my part, too lazy to think of a better alternative, and the written word always loses context and whatnot and so forth that a chat over beer wouldn't miss (not that I'd waste a good beer on political talk)

good convo, my brain needed the reboot cuz was grinding on a coding issue at work...when I went back to it I found that pesky comma that was supposed to be a period, wish we started going back and forth sooner, it would have saved me some time!

Yea, she wasn't too bad. Just a huge black and blue along the midsection from the seatbelt. Let me see if I could upload the video somehow....

Crash video. Lady never saw her. 45mph road. Sometimes I feel like I might've been able to avoid that accident, but it's hard to say. Other person's insurance company took 100% fault after we sent them the video. Before we sent the video they were claiming my wife never stopped at the stop sign, which led to the crash. That was clearly not the case.

based on that it looked like your wife was on the through street with no stop sign, even without the video was the insurance adjuster dumb or blind?

I think they were trying to say she didn't stop at the stop sign that she was stopped at in the beginning of the video. Not even sure why that would matter anyway, being how far it was from the accident intersection. The other driver was just clearly not looking left at all. I think she saw whatever the last car was before my wife turned and assumed that was the last car in the lineup then didn't bother to look left again before driving into the intersection.

I see.... Also unsure how that is relevant as she was established on the main road for plenty long enough before the crash

Wow, glad she is okay and I hope the other person too!
Did their car flip on to the side?

Thank goodness, people are okay and two you have the video. Without the video or a witness to testify other party would just blame you. The other car obviously just went without realizing. I actually think the telephone poles blocked their view of your tesla.

But damn let's talk about the Tesla/EV acceleration!

Like I said earlier all the crazy going on doesn't make us not want to own Teslas anymore but damn people are taking way to personal. Mrs said a friend's Tesla is in for service so they got a loaner. Friend posted something on gram with photo of all the loaners and said I'll take any one. Or something like that. She got blasted and harassed. Had to defend herself and say "guys it's a damn car I bought 4 years ago. I love my car. Chill the F out."

Yesterday, I drove a friend and their daughter to a game far away. They are in a nice newer toyota. He's been in Tesla's before but seeing me operate the screen controls - traffic, move the audio to the rear speakers only, spotify. He was like damn it I knew I should have gotten a Tesla but I chickened out. So Yeah, they are still a nice car and desirable to some (not @UtahJoe) despite the political lunatics. And I assume he voted democratic too.

The cyber truck is fast but it is 6800 lbs. one of the reasons it’s illegal in the UK and Australia is it’s so heavy you need the equivalent of a CDL to drive one.

My Suburban weighs more. No idea. Are those illegal too?
It's not "illegal" due to the weight, it just means it's outside the regular classification for vehicles and requires a special license. At least in the UK, Australia may be more on the illegal side but it's not like they don't have big vehicles there.

They're illegal as they don't meet safety requirements and aren't homologated to that market. The design of the Cybertruck means it won't be legal in a lot of European countries, specifically pedestrian safety requirements, cameras instead of side mirrors. I'm actually surprised about the camera thing as the GMA T.50 which is a British car uses cameras vs mirrors.

It's also illegal to import a 2,500lb Citroen into the US that's recently made for example, or any Chinese car for example due to similar rules here.
