Car-spotting thread

Now that's some serious "car spotting"

That's the most bird shit I've ever seen on any car

I test drove a Raptor today (I went ripping through Jockey Hollow and down Tempewick Road). 2014, loaded, 43,000 miles. Not certified. $43,000. I can't believe how well they are holding their value.

Totally impractical. Perfect "fuck you" purchase.

Sticker when new was about $60,000.

Why cant you use the bed?

I think even though the v6TT is is like LIGHT years faster than the v8 version...people just want the v8 anyway...so its keeping the values of the v8 versions high.

I mean if you're buying the car and keeping it forever, because it's a truck, a v8 will probably last longer and have less issues than any turbo car. I also really like the Raptor and I'm not a truck guy.

5.5' bed the same as my F-150 supercrew. You're not carrying 4x8 sheets of plywood but your friends still ask you to help them move... BTW the tailgate step that pulls out is the best thing ever.

You're right about the engines. V6 TT is faster but it doesn't have the sound of the V8.

I meant it in the sense that a 4 x 8 sheet of nothing will fit. That would be my minimum criteria for a usable bed in a full-size pickup.
i guess, I mean my toyota has a 6' bed, but with the tail gate down a 4x8 fits good enough....8' bed trucks are ungodly long and annoying...unless you get a regular cab...but a 4door 8' bed truck is like driving a semi

yes, agree, wood get extended cab w/8ft bed- a good compromise. If my Toyotas ever crap out, not likely at this point.

well shit, you just ruined that guys day.

Naw, not until he goes to a track day, then it will be ruined.

I love Porsche's, but unless you're a single guy or filthy rich, a 2-seat rwd drive vehicle is impractical as a daily driver. I even have a connection where I can get one CPO'd from a wholesaler. Having said that, I'm trying to convince the wife to say fuck it and go down the rabbit hole with me. I'll even compromise and get one with the PDK.

As fun as they are and as good as they feel and handle though, I fully realize that unless he can't drive at all, a dude showing up with a late-model Vette at a track day would show me tail lights. I used to go to track days where the Porsche guys in their Nomex suits and Sparco shoes (most were a little douchey) would get their track-prepped cars smoked by dudes who showed up with ratted out Vettes with a little suspension work.

If I learned anything over the years of going to drag races and 24hr lemon races....Dont ever show up to a track with your fancy $100,000 sports car and expect to: A. win a drag race against a 74 chevy vega B. beat a non turbo, 200,000 mile 150HP subaru impreza around a road course.

Actually reminds me of a funny story. They used to have drag races at the stroudsburg airport in PA. You would just talk to whoever in the parking lot and challenge them to race...no time, just a light..It was pretty fun actually. Some pretty fast drag cars would show up, but also some porsches, vipers etc. One guy with a viper was kinda dicky and would not race anything he felt was slower than his car...like would not race my stock lx mustang and was a pretty big dick to me...but whatever. There was a guy there with a fully caged, full on drag car vega...I would guess that it probably ran 9s as it was powered by a BBC. He asked him to race and the guy laughed at his vega...he really didnt know what a car built for drag racing looked like...it was pretty funny....So finally after enough hounding, the guy agrees....Were all loking at each other trying not to laugh bc this guy really has no idea how bad he is about to get his ass kicked. Vega of course does massive burnout...green light...huge wheel stand, vega is basicly at the finish line when the viper is half track...pulls parachute..(there was like no run off area)..we all laugh. They come back...guy in the viper was like...oh that thing on the back is a parachute? I had no idea.

Haha probably true but who would want to buy a GM vehicle?

I might want to:

or maybe something the same-ish vintage, same-ish mfr, but a lil larger body style....

I like the restomod trend where the classic bodies sit on a new full-frame, suspension, powertrain, etc.
Win-Win; goes, stops, AND turns, OH MY.

Too bad my wallet does not agree.
