Many thanks.Best bet is to hope you dont need engine work and if you do, figure it out then. 997 would be my vote for sure. Better looks, interior, and overall driving experience. Get a history report and if the ims has been done, get a bore scope done and you should be good from there
I do like the looks of the 997's better than the 996's but man they have been going up in price over the last few weeks. Kicking myself for not jumping on a few 997's earlier this year and in Dec 2020. The price difference even for a 997.1 is almost double what a 996 is going for.
I've read the bore scoring can be a big issue. Part of my thinking is that the early 997's can also have bore scoring issues and for the difference I could hold that money for a 3.8 engine built by FSI. The smart move would be just finish the projects I have and keep things simple but man do I have an itch for a 911!
