We got very little rain from several cells that passed by.Spent a few hours today trying to make this section weatherproof. Saw that a heavy storm cell cam though after. Fingers crossed 🤞 I have got the drainage working
It downpoured by me, 1 mile south of Cromwell. F-ing cells. We got very little rain from several cells that passed by.
Took the opportunity between the rain sessions today to get out to Cromwell and do more work. As you can see from the pic below, a great, great advantage is that there's a telephone pole here. Or...that I can drive to a spot 10 feet from where I want to work. I think the furthest this trail is from a spot you can park the car is maybe 100 feet. Maybe.
STB/Kevin texted me and suggested instead of a berm I may want an angled tread and I totally agree. That said, digging this stuff is work. With the rain, digging is far easier and I took 1.5 hours and did another 10 feet of the trail. I think what I did today is closer to what I want the whole turn to look like. Probably another 10 feet to go until I hit the drop/ish thing that sends you into this. I fixed that up a bit but that will need more work. I was basically trying to form mud with that.
Also you can see the stuff I did Monday held a lot of water today so I'll need to rework that when it dries out. That was far too wet to bother with.
Anyway, getting there, foot by foot.

I'm having fun! So nice to work w/o some of the drama at 6mr.@jdog and I were back out yesterday morning. He finished cleaning up the top of the Stop trail. Really happy with the changes he made as well as the added drainage. Come Fall we can focus on the hand work/fine tuning from top to bottom, which Norm has started in the middle.
Then we started another project that I’m hoping will be a nice addition. It’s not a huge project, so figuring 1 or 2 more sessions to knock it out.
I’m mostly posting this update to thank Jason for continuing to come out and run the machine. It is a game changer for us in lots of ways.
It's better every time I ride it due to you guys, thanks Jay, Kirt, and Norm!
The next section we are working on will sneak up on you. I’m gonna put some serious time into it before we open it up.It's better every time I ride it due to you guys, thanks Jay, Kirt, and Norm!
Just got back and yup, streak is still alive, every time I go something is different and better.Kirt and I were out this morning working on stuff. 3 different parts of the Stop Sign Trail are now a bit better. Go check some out this weekend.

Don't murder yourself too hard. I have a bigger shovel and a new wheelbarrow coming next week. Was out again today for a ride & TM session. First was that long sweeping berm I have been working on. First is the entrance which I extended 3 feet, and will eventually start at the step-down in the pic. The second is the exit which I extended 4 feet. It's getting closer but will need a few more sessions. I could probably knock it all out in 1 but it's boring work and I just do a little more each time.

Then I worked on the jump-to-tabletop which we built last week. The exit of this is tight, and if you don't know it well, you'll end up in the rough. I actually do know it, and I had to full lock one run today. It's getting really fast & fun so this is a result of making it better. Hard to see here but I chipped away more of the hill/rough. Second pic is the tabletop which I added a bunch of dirt to. This will take a few more sessions to get right and will probably need to be rebuilt every year.

I then moved down the trail and blew out the rubble from the pavement crossing to the log-drop-ish thing. The first berm after the pavement is...better. Won't lie, this is not good. But it's better. The dirt here is garbage so we're going to source dirt from elsewhere and build this up better. It also needs to be weed whacked but I forgot to bring it with me today.

Ok down the trail a bit more, approaching the low point before the rise to that double-thing-that-isn't-quite-right-yet that we worked on last week. Thinking here is that the loose rocks make it harder to hit those properly. I rode it after and it's better but it needs something. IDK what that is yet.

I would say this trail, right now, is running as well as it ever has. You should go out and ride it. Then come help next time we go out.

Build a coarse screen sifter or go lazy with at least a milk crate sifter for the crap dirt. Would love to help on this as i'm a retired dirt jumper with loads of jump/berm building experience. Real life is getting in the way of trail missions lately though.Yeah, though a lot of this work is the painstaking effort of removing the rocks from the dirt by hand. The second mound is dreadful material. Dreadful.

Not trying to be a d!ck and criticize, but just want to offer advice. For this specific turn, it looks more like a curb than a berm. I would dig out a bunch of dirt in the circled areas and dig a smooth transition from the outside of your turn down to the level of the inside low spot. This would make a much bigger berm to hold you better and you can use all the dirt you dig out to build up the outside of this turn or other features.Real time updates. This is the before/after of the turn before the one I was working on in the previous post.
