Book of Paul H

Damn, was looking for some trainer porn

in @Patrick case, just a picture of his bike, it was obvious his fit wacky, mainly because the seat was at a -20 degree angle

was not. :p

after (hmm, bars look a little rotated from this angle.)

Bet he was aero AF doe.

@Paul H - why not spend some of that Paul's Vintage covid bike shop money on a pro fit? Or are those BS?
stubbornness on my part
I actually got my old roadie to fit perfectly... thinking no reason why I cant do that with the Crux.
Plus... Crux fit was pretty good before but with some shoulder injury and whatnot, I think my body changed.
Not to mention... I am thinking the higher cadence is also affecting fit... could be totally wrong.

Should also mention... I already have 2 stems on the way
80mm and 90mm both 17 degrees

Crux is pissing me off... having some fit issues. Shoulders are killing me today. Couple of weeks ago, hands were going numb.
It kinda feels like I need to lower the handlebar which is kinda contrary to what internet says. Going into the drops actually feels better but I feel like my neck and lower back will suffer. I am going to slam the stem and see how it feels.

I am going to preface this by saying I am no fit expert, but you can usually tell what is “wrong”. One, it is hard to tell with the baggies but your saddle might be a touch high.

But you can see from the pic above that your shoulders/upper back are putting the weight straight down to the hoods, which is likely what is causing the back/shoulder blade pain and or hand numbness. It looks like you can go longer in the stem, or lower, which will drop your shoulders and flatten you back alittle. This may relieve your pain. This explains why the drop feel better. Also, try not to lock your elbows, which it kinda looks like you are doing.

FWIW, Getting a fit on road style bikes is much more important than on mtb and really makes all the difference, especially cleat position. That being said, all my fits have been around purchasing a bike or a rebuild or
something so I never shelled out full boat for a fit, so can’t say I recommend paying full price for one, but.......

I was thinking pretty much the same.
I have another 10mm spacer that I can move. After one short ride tomorrow, I am going to play around the spacers and lower it which in effect should also lengthen the reach a bit. Will do 5mm at a time. I was watching this and thought the same regarding the elbow. I think its the angle but if you look at my inside... or right arm, there is a slight bend. Altho, I must admit... when I get tired... I do tend to lock out my elbows. As for the saddle height, I did have it a bit lower, but my left knee felt weird. It didn't hurt... but just felt weird and raised the saddle like 3mm or something. It also might have something to do with... not wearing my cycling shoes on this vid.

Haha about a fit thread, I will leave that to the pros. The knee weirdness can be the left/right position of the cleat, you can tell if it is off when your knee wobbles right and left as it goes around the pedal stroke. But yeah, having cycling shoes in probably puts you at the right height.

I got the Crux to the pt, where if I am not pedaling... very little weight on the hands but when I start pedaling, it comes back.
I am assuming I have to find a balance?

I would invest some money in a pro fit. You may end up chasing a perfect fit forever while it may not even exist. I pro would tell you exactly the best you can achieve with what you got and what you need to change to get there. Not that I ever had a pro fit but I also never owned or rode a proper 'road' bike. So far the only issue I have experienced has been some hand numbing and rarely so, really not concerned with it. I also don't churn too many miles...

Even better try some planks and swiss ball knee tucks. That will help to strengthen the exact muscles that you will use to hold your body stable while riding and also improve your posture(not saying you have bad posture, but a benefit of these exercises)
