How do these compare the the 303's which I wore Monday and will again today? Feet are one of the top 3 on my winter dressing list.

i did ride feb 8 2021, and you're right, it was damn cold that day! my garmin hit 11 that day!

as for the lakes, i'm with @thegock - i just can't tolerate cold feet, so worth every penny for me to keep the tootsies warm - otherwise i will spend a fortune on toe warmers!

i wore the wolvhammers last year and they were outstanding warmth-wise...and they have a lower cuff (is that the term?), which made them a little more riding friendly. the lakes feel far more bulky. so, there's no question, way too much boot for NJ winters. i will likely only use them in the teens and lower, and deep snow days.

however, the single BOA on the wolvhammers broke on me twice, which was just an absolute show stopper. judging by the comments on the 45nrth site, i am not the only one to have this experience...they are just far too beefy a boot to be able to have the single BOA. the lake has the double BOA which will hopefully not snap under pressure!

I have been using a velcro strap to relieve some of the pressure on the single BOA. Not sure if it's a long-term solution, but it allows me to keep the bottom lacing loose while cranking down on the strap to get it nice and tight on my lower calves.

I had a BOA break on my Lake 303s last year, and love those things. I went to the BOA website, those things are warrantied forever. They sent me a replacement piece that was a cinch to change.

yep BOA is super awesome with warranty. it's just that, it sucks when your BOA breaks in the middle of the woods, when it's 17 degrees out! when it happened last time, i strapped a voile strap around my ankle. got me out of the woods, but definitely not ideal
