Biggest loser

I tried IF for a bit. It did help me lose some weight but it had me hating life other times. Plus I think when I would lose my focus or cheat for a bit the weight would come back and be harder to get rid of it. That's why I'm trying the noom thing as it seems to be more approachable and I like the psychology behind it. Now that just means I have to stick to what I've learned. Less calorically dense foods, stick to a certain calorie zone, weigh each day and be active is the recipe. I thought about dry January but I'm going to try dry weekdays and see how that goes. I've been feeling meh lately and the last trip to the doc said my cholesterol is high and my A1C is prediabetic so I need to get my sh*t in check. That's more motivation for me.

You know what else works? Solitary confinement in a jail cell. It works. It sucks.

Make sure whatever you choose is not a detriment to actually living a happy life. Contrary to that, don't delude yourself that a happy life is defined by eating 16 PB cups a day.

Exactly. And whatever you do should be sustainable, or at some point it'll all come back and be pointless.

So I bought a blood glucose meter, since I’ve been curious about my blood sugar for a while. Every time I’ve gotten blood work done I’ve always been borderline hypoglycemic. It’s been at least 5 years since I’ve gotten blood work done or even seen a doctor, so I wanted to see if anything’s changed. Turns out my fasting numbers (two days at least) are pre-diabetic. Really shocked me. I know I’ve gained some weight but I’m still in decent shape. Also don’t have any family history of diabetes. I guess even more reason to lose weight/dial in diet.

Well said and thats how ive maintained weight I previously could not. A number 1 with extra pickles from Chic-fil-a is certainly on the menu and pizza and bikes. Love pizza. Love bikes.

Doesn't your body swap to Fat any time you run out of glucose? During a long ride that's what the bonk is, your body switching energy sources. Although I assume Fasting gets you there without having to put in as much exercise.
This is a bit misleading. Your body will use and break down muscle in addition to fat when there is no glucose available for sustained energy. That’s where intermittent fasting can be a problem for certain athletes.

Yup, with one addition, intensity makes the body switch metabolic sources as well as time and fuel availability. Glucose mostly for most efforts, until its gone. low intensity efforts can metabolize fat>glucose and make your glycogen stores last much longer. High intensity efforts when glucose is gone do use fat, but also break down protein, which is a crap way of making energy in a destructive manner. A true bonk is switching over to protein metabolism because youre going harder than fat can keep up with.

oh, and
