Breakfast of champions. Happy St Patrick’s Day! 🍀

Ahh yes My son calls today lucky charms day and calls leprechauns the lucky charms guys because it's the only time of the year he gets a box of lucky charms. We did st Patty's day early on Sunday and unbeknownst to us he ate half a box of lucky charms and threw up twice in the car from all the sugar. Thank God we had a brand new hole free plastic bag ready to go!!

I had a great cheat dinner Tuesday night. Korean spare rib tacos and pizza. A good beer, and then ice cream with the kids. Still hanging in the 172 range. I’m eating good and will ride later, but I have a big ride planned for tomorrow. I’ll be out enjoying the gravel and sun!

E2M program Round 2, Week 1, Day 6

Diet
Back to the regularly scheduled program. On point with food. My body is pretty much used to I.F. now. Drinking 1gal H20 a day, and look forward to having flavored black coffee. No added sugar, dairy, grains and alcohol only with weekly cheat meal. This week's cheat meal is a local Thai restaurant, 1st visit, and then stopping at the local to have a pint or 2.

Exercise
Followed the plan circuits M/W/F and spin bikes session T/Th/Sat from Time Crunched Cylist. Increased dumbell weights this week as the thumb is getting much better. Was able to do push-ups during a circuit and got out last Saturday for an outside bike ride on the rigid SS. Took it easy, but pretty satisfied with how the hand/wrist/thumb handled it.

Weight
1/2/22 Starting weight = 235.4
3/12/22 Current weight = 200.2
Diff: weekly down 4.2, total lost = 35.2
I'm actually kind of giddy this morning with the results. It's been a long time since I've been this weight, to the point I will need to buy a whole new wardrobe. I don't have any skinny clothes. Graduated college in 1990 at around 205lbs. TCNJ was still TSC where I gained 50lbs during my 4yrs there. Can't wait to do a proper mountain bike ride that includes some climbs that always challenged me. Another positive, pretty close to not being a Clyde anymore, and during my mtb racing career, have never been this low.

Wife weighed in this morning as well and down 2lbs, getting real close to her goal.
E2M program Round 2, Week 2, Day 6

Diet
I.F. plan is still going strong. No cheating or snacking. Except there was a small bit of bourbon Thurs evening after visiting a family member who came home from a short hospital stay after a surgical procedure. Water intake has been 1gal or a little more each day. Cheat meal this afternoon will be at the local. Thinking a burger, FF and an IPA or 2.

Exercise
Up early every day this week for the circuits and spin bike sessions. Recently purchased a set of Bowflex adjustable dumbbells at Costco with annual rewards check and they were special priced for members. Needed to increase weight for some of the circuits as I regain strength in the surgically repaired thumb. Was successful doing a few honest push-ups, but still have to drop to my knees as the rep count increases. Picked up a new FS mtb today, so looking to get out on it tomorrow for a shakedown ride.

Weight
1/2/22 Starting weight = 235.4
3/19/22 Current weight = 198
Diff: weekly down 2.2, total lost = 37.4
So, I'm now in Onederland as they call it in the E2M Group. Looking to get to 185ish by the end of this 8wks. After that, going into maintenance mode with the diet by introducing some more carbs from sources such as rice and sweet potatoes. Even then it will probably only be 1 meal a day. Been so long now that I've been over 200lbs and no longer a Clyde. Registered to race TSE as a Clyde and contacted the promoter today to change my registration to Men 50+.

Week 10 + 1 day

Start: 208.3
Current: 194.2
Diff: 14.1
Last week: +1.4 x 2 (two week vacation)
Weekly: -5.9, -1.3, -1.6, -2.8, -1.8, -1.1, -1.6. -0.8, +1.4, +1.4
Goal: Low 170s

Damage Alert!

Well I can't say I feel any worse, and I even went in a notch on the belt,
but the tale of the scale reveals the truth.

After a 16 day jaunt across Florida, which included a decent amount of eating,
but was not void of exercise, it is right there in the numbers. My digestive system is also acting up
from the abuse, and yesterday was mega lethargic with 4 hours of sleep - a 1 hour ground delay,
flight, drive, beer on the deck cause i was toast - type of day.

So back at it today. Getting in my steps, then I'll jump on the trainer later.
Lots of yard work to do.

No worries! You had your fun now get your head back in the game! You know what to do.

3/20

183lb -2 this week -22 since we started

still tracking everything going in, and on verge of hunger. Booze and snax remain minimal. Riding whenever possible, combined with work and family, not much time for anything else. LIFE!

Not sure if I’ll hit 17X by 4/1, but I’m giving it a run. I am already the lightest I’ve been in almost 30 yrs! Go losers!

Monday update. Not much of a change for me. Some extra eating has helped me to stay hovering in the 171/172 range. I REALLY want to see the 160's again so I just need to get back on track. I had a big ride on Friday ~6 hours, followed Saturday by a birthday dinner for my mother in law, and some extra stress eating and I weighed in at 172.4 this morning. 171 has been my most recent low so I'm not far off that. Exercise has been good so I'm just sticking to the plan. I will get out to ride most days this week. Tuesday/Thursday I have a bigger window, but Saturday I'm planning a bigger ride again. I have to say the legs are appreciating the weight loss. Recovery has been so much better and my legs are starting to like hills again! I'll check in later in the week and hopefully I'll be closer to-if not in-the 160's.

Starting weight 216 lbs. (12/30)
Fighting weight 195 lbs (4/1)

207 today. That is another pound down this week. Been putting in more miles on the bike at the expense of weight training. I’m hoping that I don’t lose too much muscle but it’s inevitable.

I pretty much eat whatever the hell I want. Calorie intake has been greatly reduced by eliminating beer. A quick calculation put me at ~2400 last week. The beer alone would have added another 2000 extra calories! 😵

Looking at some of the folks on here it’s so impressive what you have done wether it’s -10 lbs or -30lbs it all counts.

While my long game this year has been “maintain don’t gain” I’m very happy to report back that I have stayed within 3-4 lbs range since my recovery from COVID back at the start of January. Last week I even dropped below my lowest weight from last year when I was training for the Cranbury 200K in April 2021. Based on some of the recent harder rides I have completed my fitness progress possibly feels even better than this time last season.

Having committed to a target event really has kept me focused on proper training and recovery but also expanding my workouts beyond the bike (still need to do more of this ). And even if I’m eating mostly whatever I want it’s all in moderation so I don’t overdo it or try ti make up for it by killing myself with a bike ride that wipes me out.

Still getting tons of motivation from folks here so keep up the good work. 👍🏻💪🏻👊🏻

I think with all this weight loss, I'm losing brain tissue. The last few mornings I thought about trying to mix up my workouts with some runs here or there. It wouldn't be the worst thing, but that means time away from the bike. I'll see. It'll probably have to be when I just don't have that much time to ride I'll get in a quick run. I think my body has shed the food from this weekend as this morning's weigh in was better. I'm getting close to my next milestone, but I'll have to wait for later this week for the weigh in. It could be as early as tomorrow if today goes well.

Doing a family charity 5k could be a thing. You run then go back and meet up for everyone to finish. Of course you would ride to and from the event cause they only take 20-25 minutes for normal fitness non runners

Well, right by me there is a weekly 5k off-road race. I’ve thought about jumping in and trying one of these for the hell of it.

Wednesday Weigh In.

Back on track despite minimal exercise. I did a few days on the Murder Chair just to get my hip muscles moving. Today is my last day of supposed Zero exercise, then I have 3 weeks of light duty. Brevet #1 is April 9th.

My food prep is going well at least.

I've been stalled at -15lbs for ~3 weeks. No changes to eating or routine, but I have added flexibility exercises (anticipating a few tumbles this season). I know the next step, but can't commit until after this weekend, so I'll push out my target +4 weeks. This seems like a new-normal weight, and I can feel body changes that don't show on the scale. The additional time will also let me raise my target to 1.5x goal.
