Trying to keep perspective after my month off the bike which saw me gain 8 lbs, last year I had surgery that saw me balloon from 185 to 200 in 6 weeks. My first FTP test in February was 244 so my W/kG was 2.69, it's currently 3.12. I'll be heading into 2024 lighter and stronger which is huge.

Goal this season is 3.89 w/kG (170lbs/300W).

I’m struggling to get things going again. Life has been too hectic and I’m still not riding as much as I want. I’m trying to get in a pattern of at least being active in some way each day. That keeps me happier. The diet I’m working on. This week I’ve started counting calories again, which I know works if I’m disciplined. Now I get to be bitchy and hangry and have less beer - that’s a fun transition. So at least I’m thinking about going in the right direction. I signed up for a bunch of events next year so I’ve gotta do some work on the offseason. There’s time to get things going but no time like the present to get started I guess eh?

Coming back from the knee injury I got back on the scale and was close to 195 a few weeks ago. Haven’t seen this number in many years as I tend to hover around 185 ish and it was no surprise based on my my clothes are fitting. Prior to injury I was already trending a little up but had good plan in place to get below 190 before Xmas break. Cut down on the junk crap eating and better portion control since just before thanksgiving.

Got back on track and saw it come down to 192/191 and now I’m home sick the last 3 days. 😷🤧 (not COVID).

So the plan now is to at least try to maintain and not gain any more. My company is closed between Xmas and new years so if the weather cooperates like to finish the year off with a bang and get a few good rides in. Also will increase the rower to 2x per week along with some Bodyweight sessions 1x a week to mix it up.

Amazing how just 10-ish lbs makes me feel like I am fat again but that’s still part of the “former fat guy” mentality.

You can turn it around 👍

Highly don't recommend getting a massive head cold/fever/hacking cough and eating nothing but soup for 7 days but I am down to 189.5 so there's that.

Back to training tomorrow morning, still recovering with some lingering sinus issues so could not handle waking up early and then head to the office for work.

I'm just getting over one myself it stinks. Good luck once you get back to it 👍

Well I cut it close on completing my final goal of 2023 but I finally hit my bench press goal I've been after... Im on Week 12 of 22 of my winter bulk now and its been incredibly productive but I need to come up with some goals for 2024 and dont kmow where to start. Only a week and a half left until biggest loser round 3 are you all ready ? I won't start until March 1st and hopefully will only need to drop 10- 12 lbs

196 this morning - i thought it was going to be way worse.
that is down 12 from 2 years ago!

Off the bike for the 6ish weeks, although i wasn't riding a lot before then.
Couple things are changing - selling a few of my projects, so that will free-up some time.

Welcome to 2024.

the first 8 pages of this thread are amusing.

Was waiting to post for the new year.

Had some struggles the past two months. Too much indulging and gained 5 lbs. I feel it and see it.

Time to reset and start a new round of E2M. Back to structure.

Cheers to 2024!

I'll be mostly walking.

I went back and looked at the beginning pages 🤣 and went back and looked at my first couple posts in here kinda funny to look back like that. Good luck this year 👍

Happy new year losers!

The last 2 months of 2023 didn’t quite go as planned but I kick started some fitness activities the last 2 weeks to prime the system for getting 2024 off to a good start.

Scale says 195 but that could be the extra appetizers and beer from last night. The short/long term goals are like this so far:

- Drop 5lbs by end of January.
- drop 10lbs by mid March
- Ride/Row/Walk or other exercise at least 7 hours a week (so one hour a day avg).
- mix in more off the bike exercise at least 2x per week (Bodyweight sets, rower, etc…
- get back on the MTB at least once a month post injury

My local riding buddies and I have made some plans to ride a self supported gravel century sometime March and I personally and also planning to go back to HoH this year if work and life allow. This helps me set a target event and count backwards to make sure I am staying on track for what I need to be doing with my riding and training. In 2022 we did LuLacka WyCo Hundo and even tho I almost threw my bike away after that event I realized that the rest of that year my fitness and riding was very good.

Now time for a ridiculous breakfast I smell
Cooking so I can start off at 199🤪

Get ‘er Done!

2024 is here and started with a step on the scale to see what damage I've done over the last couple of months. Though I've been very consistent with exercise. You can't out exercise a bad diet. And I know that all too well. Since mtb racing season ended Labor Day weekend, riding for fun and having fun with trips and food really added up. Also a knee issue had me doing less running and riding for a bit in September as well.

Recapping some personal highlights of the year. Raced in the MASS Series Endurance SS class and finished 3rd for the season with 3 podiums in the 5 races I participated. Completed my 6th Transylvania Epic, which was also my fastest, besting my previously fastest '22 time by over 2hrs. Already registered for the '24 version. Completed my long-time bucket list race of the Wilderness 101. The stars aligned for my fitness and perfect weather to finish in a faster time than expected in 10h19m. Another year doing 31/31 Challenge in July.

Weight = 200.8. A year ago, I was 180.8. I was weighing myself and staying pretty consistent until September.

This is also the start of my 3rd year following the E2M program. Re-committing fully to get things moving in the right direction. Getting back to the 185lb range before racing season begins in April should be obtainable.

Good luck to everyone committing to new goals.

I’m gonna jump on this train for 2024.

2023 was a bit of a roller coaster.

Piling on the tonnage since November 2nd

Won’t be able to weigh in until Mid-January.

Possible unpleasant talk with cardiologist in February.

2024 seems like a good year to try and keep things from going too far off the rails…
