Any scotch/whisky drinkers in here?

This set I posted here is still available and still $1600.
Blantons is good, but waaaay overpriced. I'll buy it if I can find it for around $60, but not for the $150-200 that I sometimes see it at. Way too many bourbons in the $50-100 category that are so much better. For perspective, I can get Stagg or Weller for that price (even those are priced) that blow Blantons away. Hoping this whiskey bubble bursts at some point.

Just went back to see the date of my original post. Was in the store over the weekend, and the whole set is still sitting there.

What Germy said- msrp is now $110-$120

So you’re not buying it 🙂. Unless you have a Time Machine.

What the favorite bottle for less than $50?

I’ve been picking up High West or Pinhook. I really don’t drink much anymore though so I’m out of the loop.
@JDurk and @krink hit on two I was going to mention, but I’ll add Michter’s -
My local carries it for just under $40, I usually see it for $5-10 more.
Definitely in the rotation

When my liquor store has it, they'll sell it to you for $70, its not $60, but reasonable if you're into Blantons. You have to ask for it though, they don't keep it on the shelf. They sell a lot of the good stuff at MSRP, but you have to be one of their "good customers" and know who to ask. If I'm paying $70 though, I'm getting Knob 12, an Elijah single barrel, Widow Jane, or one of the Barrell Craft Spirits blends, which absolutely blow Blanton's away. Their blends are usually at barrel proof and and hands down some of the best out there. They have one batch out there now that's the best thing I've had in the last 5 years. Up there with last years Weller 12, maybe even better. For under $40, you can't really go wrong with Four Roses Small Batch.

A neighbor who drinks these got me a bottle. I’m waiting until he can join me to crack it, though he says not to wait.
Maybe he doesn’t want to hang out with me.
But yeah, I’ve heard great things.
Which batch number did he give you? Cool thing is that all of the batches taste different, especially when they stray from their more classic flavor profile.

Not sure, I’ll post when I can, but those are his go-to, so I’m expecting goodness.

But yeah, the variations are one of the reasons I haven’t tried them yet- not ready to explore the line up.
