A while back (a year+) I started working on this map and getting input from some of the JORBA folks on what's what here. JSS beat me to the press with his own great map, but I figured I'd put mine out there anyway since we're both showing some slightly different things.

There are 2 maps actually, a PDF rotated 90 degrees like the "old" map. It also has a UTM 1k grid for anyone that's using a map and compass. There's also a "north up" image in a KMZ for digital use.

Very nice. I see trails on there I never knew existed. I ride the same stuff all the time basically from the lake up to piersons. Never noticed the stuff by the Manor and such.
 
Nice! Well done. There's one other trail in section G2 for the record...may be overgrown these days from minimal use, but it starts roughly at the dogleg near the "C" in "Cannonball", heads north (below Ilgenstein rock), and winds its way west to come out on Yellow/White just at the border between F2 and G2.
 
Hey Rob,

The pdf map looks great! I haven't been riding in Ringwood in like 20 years, and this has inspired me to get there next summer. Although I will have to get to Jungle Habitat first as I have never been there.

How old are we talking? I don't have any GPS tracks or maps that show it. I'll check with Art & Ellen and see what they know about it (or if it's been closed?).

Would love some feedback on this if you happen to try it out. My orienteering days were short lived (and long over!)
 
Last time I rode it was about 5 years ago. It's not a great trail, aesthetically speaking, so you could probably skip mapping it. But it does make for a short cut from south end of Bear Swamp up to Ilgenstein Rock without having to climb White (which is pretty steep and as far as I recall not climbable on a bike (even descending white from Ilgenstein is tricky near the top)).
 
Awesome map, Rob. At first glance, your map looks pretty consistent with the map I posted in October. The UTM grid and inclusion of some trails that were off the edge of my map is great. Your map also has a few other trails that I’m missing--some of which I’ve looked for and have never been able to find. Maybe I just need to look harder.

I’ve got a list of minor corrections I need to make to my map already and I’m hoping to put together a couple suggested routes (hitting the best single track while avoiding the fire roads as much as possible). Hopefully I can get that done soon.

Anyway, nice work. Having two new maps is definitely better than none!
