Allaire Conditions

gonna be chilly tomorrow too (which is good)

pat - I've been going the last few Sat mornings at the crack of dawn. hope to do the same moving forward. maybe starting at 6a when daylight savings starts

I'll totally be down to join for these from time to time. for the next 3 weeks my kid has saturday morning soccer, so it will be after that.

cool and crisp at dawn this morning. with the overnight temps starting to drop we need to start thinking to wet trail riding. the afternoon mud ruts will soon begin to freeze during the overnight, and as we all know these can be anything from sketchy to downright hazzardous.

I've said it before and I'll say it again....Stay away, it's too Sandy!!

NJ State Parks are closed until further notice so please don't venture out there, winds can bring down limbs and trees. Be safe everyone!!

Conditions anyone?

I just got back from Allaire. I brought a bow saw instead of a bike. I walked down the Orange trail along side the road towards the sand pit. Then turned onto the river trail to go behind the airplane field. I spent four hours cutting stuff. I may have gotten halfway down the trail behind the airplane field before turning around to leave. It is ugly out there. Fire up the chainsaws. :getsome:

Here are some before after pics. I was finding stuff like this every couple hundred feet. I cut what I could with a bow saw and left the rest. Considering the limited distance I covered, there is a lot of work to be done.

Still not rideable but you can get under the tree.

The tree is high enough to ride under.

Sad, but not surprised after seeing the damage at the farm where the wife's horse lives. Run-in sheds overturned while the horses were inside, it was a bad one. I'm sure well get out there as soon as possible...or when we get our homes fixed up again.

Thank you for the report and the effort Ben. Seems sorta like bringing a knife to a gun fight! Gonna take a mass effort to get things even close to being back to normal. Im sure all the parks are in similar shape.

Lots of fallen trees. I used a bow saw to cut a tree across the Blind Trail that was a foot off the ground. Many more trees that need a chainsaw. If we each do a little, it'll get done.

Chainsaws

Hey stan,

I can meet up with ya next week and cut up some trees, i just picked up a new beast of a chainsaw

Can I tag along joe? I would love to join you guys. When are you planning to do this?

Joe and Sandy:
Hopefully I will return to work Monday, but I am up to going this weekend. I'm going to try to get to Allaire with a bike and bowsaw today. People have been riding. There were 5 or 6 cars with bike carriers in the parking lot when I walked in Thursday. Slinky says he was out with chainsaws yesterday.

Should not go

Nix that. Frank says don't go. No TM or riding. I will respect the official word and wait until the park re-opens.

Thanks guys, please be patient. Chainsaw use is limited to Park employees at all state parks. There is a good level of trust that they allow us to use ours on occasion, so please don't jump the gun and chance sacrificing that relationship we have. In time we will organize a huge tm session and kick ass.
