Allaire Conditions

I used to take 3/8th x 8 pan head screws from what I remember and they seemed to have worked very well. Now that we are getting more ice on ground as we speak, might be a good idea. or set of Nokian tires for 100.00 dollars each...

I did get out out on cross bike yesterday for 30 miles...

Just a follow up.....think spikes. Outer trails are wet, so please stay off them. Many of the well trafficked trails have two to three inches of slick ice on the north facing sides of the trail.

Please be careful and use your best judgement.

We need 2-3" of snow here for traction or get studs...I don't think the ice is gonna melt anytime soon.

Never thought I would be the one asking but I've been off bike. Whats the status with the trails for this weekend. I was down on rt 18 heading to Eatontown and there was very little snow cover on the ground compared to Marlboro. Are the trails rideable with the deep freeze coming. Do I need the studded tires or can I get by on the normal wheels? Or do I have to go to Basto? thanks

Hey Mitch, KMP need to ride on Sunday...

I managed 7 miles there today. Orange up to Allenwood is a frozen river, ice is an inch thick, Blue trail was very good, but there was some ice in the corners. The fire roads were glacial. I tried some of the lesser traveled trails thinking they might be better, entrance to Tiger was good and then turned to a sheet of ice, as well as some others. Halfway through the ride I thought it was better than going to Wharton; the second half I decided I would be going to Wharton on Saturday, but it was better than riding the trainer.

Thanks for da report,,,

Ditto for Clayton today. Stopped there with spiked tires but the ice was clear in most areas and the sun seemed to make the surface in many areas a bit wet on top. Even with spikes it was sketchy in many areas.

Allaire is to the point of needing 4+ inches of snow or some warm rain to get rid of the ice or at least make it rideable. Light snow will only make it more dangerous, as it will be a light film over the heavy ice that will cause the tires to slip under any real riding.

Wharton is looking awesome, I was surprised, the trails were a ton of fun! It was like a never ending Micks Trail at Allaire.

I am looking forward to heading back, the trail crew has done an awesome job down there.
