6 Mile Run Conditions

all- the point was to shame for riding trails in shitty conditions. NOT to threaten or by any means show harm. so whoever said "I know where you live now" took it too far.

I'm sure he's aware of this thread. He should come here and discuss
Hey we all learn, I remember being young and stupid when I first go into mtbing. I thought fudging it up was all apart of it riding...I didn't know you where supposed to stay off the trails when they are muddy.

flaubert what else did he say? is he going to rage on you?

@Flaubert is in trouble.

I've never seen the point in starva...until now. Cyber bullying/harassing trail wreckers for the win.

It's crazy but the information is out there. Just look the segments...Dude man appears to be warning others that he got busted and threatened by MTBNJ folk.

As far as riding on muddy trails: most people don't respond kindly to being told they are doing the wrong thing... you have to show people the consequences of their actions. Signs at all the trailheads explaining trail erosion (with photos) will gradually have an impact on how people think. Even then; it still takes time to change community behavior: you just have to reinforce the same message over and over again. I actually think a lot of people don't even realize they are in a state park. Big signs (at every parking lot) that say "SIX MILE RUN STATE PARK" along with information about the park and proper trail etiquette: is what we need.

I remember riding at Six Mile ten years ago; and erosion (damage) from overuse wasn't an issue: but now things have changed. In my opinion- unless we get the state to agree to install some official looking signage; people will continue to "mud it up." I feel like the sign at Jacques Lane is just too small to have an impact. We need one of those big kiosk type signs with lots of photos. Sort of what like they have at Sourlands for bouldering (but bigger). Perhaps JORBA could develop a template and push for it to get posted at all parks where mountain bikers are active.

Signs. We have one at Allaire, hell, we have a full Kiosk with the trail maintenance dates posted, yet most do not look and come on this site for the dates.

Who will pay for the Kiosk? Who will put it in?

While it is part of the solution, the free and easy thing is to post educational info here as well as to spread the word to riders when they are out.

Many people know the deal, they just don't care. Those people suck.

The people that know and still ride and post pictures like what was shown yesterday are ultimate duches.
