5" tires on a beargrease

So here is a new question: The Dunderbeist is a 4.6" tire. Has anyone tried this in a Carbon Beargrease? I have a Holy Darryl rim and I finally have a ton of holes and slashes in my VanHelga's. I might be up for a change soon and I might try the Dunder/Flow combo if they actually fit.
 
To my understanding, the Dunderbeist is the same size as a Dillinger5. I'm mounting a pair this week so I'll measure it. On an 85mm rim.
 
Just to add a few more details on this.....

I mounted a Dillinger 5 (new) on a Nextie 90mm rim on the Carbon Beargrease. There was no issue with the circumference of the tire, it was the side-knobs. I had about 3mm on either side, so not much clearance for the slop and lateral flex on a "new" tire. I expect those margins to have dropped after the tire had time to fill out a bit.


Full disclosure, had it been an aluminum frame, I'da made it work.

I'm mounting the Dunderbeast on the Nextie 90's over the holiday and I'll let them sit for a week before mounting it... I like to keep it about 20 Psi during the "proofing" period, but I'll bring it down to "beach" pressure once a day and bounce it around a bit before jacking the pressure back up.

Obsessed much? Guilty.😳

Thanks for the info. I will have to see if anyone installs these on the beargrease before I drop the dime.
 
Dillinger 5 and Dunderbeast 90mm rims overinflated to 20 psi.....both new so they have a little growing to do.

I'll give'm a week then see how they fit the Beargrease.

I will stick with my VanHelgas. They are pretty durable and they ride very well. I might throw a Dillinger 5 on the front when it gets super snowy.
 
I've been running 4.6 ground controls on my Mukluk with great success. I'm not sure if a BG has the same rear triangle dimensions as a Muk, but if so they should work too. That said, I'm running them on 82mm Darrylls, so that narrows the tire width a bit from the 90mm fat boy rims. I have seen on mtbr that some have been able to squeeze a 4.8 bud/Lou into a Muk frame by sliding the dropouts back and sticking with Darryll rims. Goes to show much depends on rim width and rear triangle configurability.

I am eagerly awaiting putting them on my 85mm rims, I just know it will get much slower. I may keep the Husker Du's on till Marty's, as the Husker Du's roll purty fast.
