29er vs 26er,FS vs Hardtail

I was just having this discussion about 26vs29 w/ Al and we noticed that for 2009 Salsa is offering 6 frames in 29" wheels while they are making only 4 in 26"..

:hmmm:

A cross between a ht and a f/s is what I'm on.
I have a Salsa DOS Niner that I run with a carbon fork. The frame itself is a soft tail, yielding 1" of travel and it's an alum, frame also.

So the soft tail yields just enough cush to make you think you're on a quality steel stead, yet has every bit the lightness and acceleration of an alum bike.

Here is a photo of my setup.

I was looking into that frame last year, really nice setup although I never saw it with a rigid front. How does this thing handle on a rocky course like Ringwood or Blue?

When Giant starts producing 29ers then assimilation will be complete! Very unsure if that will ever happen tho.:hmmm:😕

They are in the 2010 line. We will see them by August.

I met their mt product manager. He is like 5'-4" tall and didn't want it.

Now they have no choice. From what I have heard, they know that they are late to the party but they want to make a big splash. We shall see.

damn, I want that friggin white brothers fork

Look into origin 8s fork basically same one for a better price, I picked up '07 one from bikemen for under 2 bills. Gotta say it's one of those things that you don't really notice and then say hey this thing is nice. Only thing is that I got brake noise now that I didn't have before, anyone else?

It may be the fork flexing, which could be tweaking the rotor. Maybe.

you could be right, also low end brakes also (julies). Haven't tinkered with them much. Also just went to see if bikeman still had '07s fork and yes they do for $199.
