24" Bike Suggestions

Hmmm.... didn’t realize that. I thing he’s been on it for two years now. Little dude hasn’t hit his growth spurt yet. Could be a few months, could be another year. Sounds like you’re looking for the now.
@Delish keep an eye out, if the timing above makes cents for you.

We just signed on as an Orbea dealer. (Really for the Occam) They aren’t stocking any bikes in the US so for any bike under $1500 we are charge $150!! In shipping. That basically kills all Orbea kids bikes in the states.

whoa... that's nuts..... When I bought Will's bike I asked my LBS if they could order one instead of me ordering online . They checked with their suppliers and the answer was no, so I did the unthinkable and ordered online. It was delivered within a few days and needed minimal assembly, which I was able to do myself. After a few rides I brought it in to LBS for some minor adjustments and to shorten up a cable. LBS now handles routine maintenance.

@jdog thanks for the heads up for the Cujo. But I really want front air shocks. Besides the Cannondale Cujo states weight at about 24.3lbs while the Nukeproof CubScout has a 24.9lbs with a 100mm travel air fork!
DAMN $150 shipping! That's off my list.

We've had a number of Woom bikes for our kids. They are all really well thought out equipped as compared to typical BIGLOGO bike from the usual brands...brake levers that tiny hands can actually grip, decent components, etc.. and they are relatively light.

They started making the "OFF" MTB series. 24" model looks decent. Claim is less that 19lbs. That's 5-7 lbs lighter than most front-suspension 24" bikes out there. Carbon rigid fork, hydro disc brakes with kid-specific levers, thru axles, Schwalbe 24"x2.35 rubber, SRAM 9 speed drivetrain at <$700. No suspension fork and frankly I think that's a plus, at least for my dudes. No way they are going to really utilize any of the travel. If you need need front suspension, I think they are going to start offering a suspension fork later this year for extra $.

The good thing is that once you get to 24" there are lots of good choices.

The black/yellow $699.00 Nukeproof Cub Scout from chain reaction seems to be the best combo of price and spec. $42 for shipping and they have excellent customer service. You could always upgrade the drive train. And it’s pretty sharp looking to boot.

Or get the race version and save some weight.

Yah, I'm leaning towards the race version. For$300 more, you get alot more. Better fork, tubeless ready rims and tires, and 10 speed drivetrain.

I think my first new bmx was maybe $50 from Kmart and I was thrilled. Times have changed for sure.

Hope it knocks his socks off!

No kidding. But not for nothing prices for anything these days are ridiculous. But i would rather spend $1000 to get them outdoors instead of a $1200 for a phone and just keep his head down looking at the screen and playing games all day. Anything to have them enjoy youth and their minds off the screen.

Just sayin'. Since it's local you could have him throw a leg over for fit?

Personally, I think in a year you’ll regret going with 24”. I had been looking for something for my 10 year old and came across this. Not sure if it fits your criteria but the seller lives in the Bronx. You could probably message them and negotiate a cheaper price if you offer to pick it up.

edit: I just saw your other post... a 22” inseam is small. I believe the standover for this bike is 27”.
I guess a 24” bike is better after all. My only suggestion is to not spend too much money on his first MTB. Good luck!

@a.s. trust me, wish i could go bigger but due to his height it's not reasonable. Besides he has a younger brother that will most likely inherit this bike in a year or two and another once after him. Depending on when he gets his growth spurt .

I've got this for sale.
Better spec then most adult bikes. Just not sure if it's too girly though.
I'd let it go much cheaper locally also.

Very surprised this is still for sale. Such a nice kids build!
