2022 Garden Thread

Bought a house with a big ol' fig tree out front. Do I need to wrap this guy up for the winter?

trim back 1/3 and any internal crossed branches. figs grow on new and 1yo wood.
meh, you live in south jersey. the worst that can happen is it dies back the ground and starts over.
if you really want to wrap it, just cinch it up, put a fence+tarp around it, and fill it with leaves.
it needs to breath, but ya want to keep water from going in the top.

did it get figs this year?

Nice haul, my butternuts are only half the your's and yes I feel inadequate
This is the best I've ever gotten by far. Usually get four or five small ones, if that. I'll try to repeat what I did next year and see if it's just a one hit wonder.

More maters— Still producing amazingly into November. Tapering down now for sure. Only picking every 2-3 days now.
Thanks to friends and family for munching away bags; crazy yield this year. Gon’ be done soon doe. Photos only show over the top of the fence, behind is more magic.

Not sure how these lasted, they are directly next to the house on the south side and protected from the W/NW.

Hard freezes this week so picked the last of stuff starting to change. Ton of green fruit but I have never had success ripening them inside.
