2021. .. now with even more 2020!

Going by what I've seen trying to gather parts for my Chameleon build, I'd say yes - parts may be an issue. Although less so for some of the pricey high-end stuff.

I've tried to contact SC a few times now for parts for my 2012 TB 1c but haven't received a response. Turn around time from these guys is usually a few hours so I can only imagine how swamped they are at the moment. Each time I check the web store to see if out of stock items come back in even more items are sold out. Hopefully they will still make these old parts when they get caught up on their existing backlog.

What parts are you looking for?

So much for that midlife crisis bike buying spree I was planning on having after surviving 2020.
While I turned 50 in 2020, for whatever reason I did most of my midlife crisis bike buying in 2019 (the Santa Cruz frames), slightly stretched into pre-pandemic 2020 (the Spot).
I already have three sports cars, so I'm not sure where else my midlife crisis can take me...

I have a crunchy bearing in the top link. Typically I'll just buy a new top link when I think the bearings are shot as I don't have the tools to remove and press in new bearings. I'm also the second owner of the bike so I don't qualify for the "free bearings for life" deal which makes just buying the links with bearings already pressed in palatable in my mind.

Anyway, I have an old top link somewhere I think that I could recover a good bearing, which is great, but all of the following are now sold out:

Model Tallboy 1C
top link
bottom link
7900 / 7902 bearing removal tool
7900 / 7902 / 6902 press tool

so... it looks like I'll have to wait. Hopefully they'll still make these parts when the dust settles and they get out of the weeds.

In the meantime, I'll pull the link out sometime this winter to see if there's anyway I can get some more life out of the bearing that's no good.

I've done this replacement. You can find these parts elsewhere if you're interested. Believe this is where I ordered from.

The tools are available elsewhere as well. I used a regular non-bike company blind puller for those and then an ebay drift set/press to re-install. Feel free to message me if you want more info.

Don't be so fast to discount your ability to get free bearings for life. Put in a request..

Not this new lot of impulse buyers. It’ll be more like, “Oh I got my job back, making money, things back to normal. Gotta buy that 75” TV and PS5. Damn this stupid bike is blocking my view.”

Couple that will a big spike in worldwide productivity and manufacturing output by the third quarter...

As I predicted, Facebook marketplace is blowing up with used bikes. Lots of high end stuff up for sale. 2020 models “with very little miles” all over my feed. Only problem is these yahoos are asking ridiculous money. Why would I spend $6500 on a 2 year old model when I can get a brand new one for the same price? Wait until mid-summer when people need money to go on vacation (or pay their enormous credit card bills), then prices will come down. 🙄

Upgrades include new pedals, grips, water bottle cage and tire pump. No low balls, i know what I have. Will not reply to "is this still available"
Dudes trying to sell their $800 Trek Marlins that they paid $2000 for 2 years ago

I don’t buy it. I’ve been in the fitness game for 25 years. People are lazy AF. Sure, they’ll be a whole new group that have discovered outdoor activities. These people already bought a bike. The rest will look to sell their overpriced two-wheeled-clothes-hanger as soon as the vaccine has been mass distributed. I project 2021 will be the year of used bikes and fitness equipment. Bike shops will still have a good season but it’ll all be back to normal by Fall.
I’m a year off but I still see this happening.

The poop is about to hit the fan, in a way it already is. Looking forward to scoring a used carbon fiber “Bro Bike” next spring when mortgage rates are 7.5% and the market is correcting itself.
You don't have to wait.

27.5 wheels…..last time I saw those was in a museum.

Way too high, next year all the junk people bought will be fire-saled to buy $32 cheeseburgers and $11 draft beers.

I bought my top of the line Miami Vice Santa Cruz Nomad with Enve option in 2016 for $3k with 20 miles on it. Those deals will be back.

only problem is that the supply chain hasnt gotten any better....So while I do agree that there will be impulse buyers selling there bikes, the supply of new bikes still isnt what it used to be. And holy shit, if China ever does invade Taiwan.....well when you see those images of cuba and everyone drive 57 chevys....thats what our bikes will look like
