Where is there not enough cover??? I saw Tom Scott and Paul M skiing at DP yesterday while I was packing their tracks

Let's do this. 7am tips down Sat morn, Sparta park n ride. I'm good for a 2hr tour. Up to the highest point and back. Should be tracked in till the mahlon side.

have fun guys..id really be down for this but im headed to the catskills to climb ice. enjoy the powder

"tracked in"?? Wanna talk about snow temps and wax types:drooling:WTF!? See you in the am😀

Snow was slow, Iggs was fast, 26r is in trouble and I have raw feet and couldn't open a jar when I got home:drooling:......Awesome!!

Good times, with 26 and Brett. Mahlon snow is always primo. That was the coldest I've been out in this year, around 8 degrees at the start and warmed up to 10 by the finish. Hopefully we can do it again next weekend.

looking for a spot to ski tomorrow AM. Would you recommenced hitting up Mahlon?

I've never started from park and ride, is it easy to find the trail head?

Yeah, Mahlon has a lot of snow and conditions are really good. The trail head is easy to find, basically make a right coming out of the lot and walk uphill on the road towards the woods. You'll see our tracks.

question for iggy/goat/26: i'm still having issues with DH turns. any 'techniques' you can share? i'm on Rossi BC65s, and the click-in style bindings.

Unlike downhill skis, xc skis have no side cut and you cannot just lean the ski to turn it. You basically have to shuffle on your feet to turn. This can be daunting on steep narrow single track, so practice step turns on a wide area you feel comfortable on without too much drop in elevation. After some practice you will feel more comfortable on steeper hills in single track.

Brett likes to bust my balls because I ski groomed centers or a golf course, however these are the best places to learn technique. Here are a couple videos that illustrate step turns.

thanks iggs- i've been trying jump turns/stops too which for me are around 10% effective, 90% fall over.

in open space, i have the step turning down pretty well. double track isn't the problem, it's trying to negotiate the stuff we ride where there are quick, steep little dh sections that go into a turn. stopping reliably is also a concern. and since brett "invented" this sport, there are no tutorials available on the YouTube to refer to.
