2015 NUE Schedule

Decisions, decisions.

Didn't do a series finish this year. Thinking about it for next year again, maybe SS again.

Was hoping the X100race would make the list if I go for a series finish again...

Might have to go do the Bailey Hundo, I love those Buffalo Creek trails.

I think this is the year to finally do a couple hundys. Definitely Shen, Maybes are Lumberjack, W101 & Hampshire.

Both better races than it too imo.

I much prefer a single large loop for hundies, rather than the three laps that made up the course at LJ.

I hit some of the True Grit loop in September while riding in Utah after the Park City P2P. Damn those are some tought trails for a hundie.

I think from an adventure perspective the single loop is ideal. There's nothing quite like the feeling I get when returning to civilization after 8+ hrs of punishing myself in the wilderness. However, logistics and course mgmt are much easier if laps are involved.

Obviously there's a limit to this 80 miles at Stewart and CP come to mind.

Gordo- 101 misses some of the really good trails we ride in other state college races. I think you'll prefer NH100. That's proper MTB and very well run. Even the roads (jeep trails?) are technical. Finishing times are a little longer than 101.

I've ridden CO and AZ. I really enjoy that arid terrain. I'm sure TG will be tough but I'm sure I'll survive. If nothing else, having a march race on the calendar will ensure I stay focused this winter.

Jeff I don't think I have ever seen you not focused. And I mean that in a good way, I think?😉
I'm hoping to be doing the W101 again this year.. Just have to wait and see for me..

I think the 101 misses a lot of the other trails because those other races (like the Stoopid 50) were specifically created to fill in gaps in the 101, which has been around for longer than any of them. I'm not 100% on the history, but I think the first version of the 101 was all fire road. I don't really know the course that well anymore, but I do know that I liked the Stoopid 50 course more for exactly the reasons Jeff mentioned. I hear NH is a beast of a course.

Still, I think I'm going to the 101 this year (haven't done it in a long time) and was hoping to make it to Mohican as well, but I have to think about that some more -- I'm looking to do Leadville this year and the qualifier in NY is a week after Mohican. Normally, I'd just do it but it's actually kind of important to be in top condition for that qualifier because the better I do the better my corral start at Leadville (assuming I even qualify.) And everyoe I know who has done it has told me that getting a good starting corral is important at Leadville. I'm also going back to Shen again this year. Probably not going to make Fool's Gold, though -- I'll be using a lot of vacation time for riding/racing in 2015, and that might be one too many trips.

Fools gold is an awesome course. If you squeeze it in, I highly recommend it. I'd guess 75-80% fun single track! Nothing brutal other than the first climb of the day and of course the sheer volume of trail. Pretty fast course though. Kinda reminds me of Wiss.

Not that you asked, but
I believe that whiteface race is mostly gravel roads.

How do you do at altitude? I'm horrible. My power drops by about 25%.
